Land O’ Lakes Has Removed The Native American Woman From Their Packages. Here’s Why.

It always comes as a shock when companies change their logos. For example, Domino’s Pizza is now simply just Dominos, Comcast changed their name to Xfinity and America now runs on Dunkin, instead of Dunkin Donuts!

This company hasn’t changed this specific part of their packaging in years, 92 years to be exact.

What’s next will come as a surprise because this is a product we use almost every day.

This product can be found in the cold section area of your grocery store and almost always next to the cheese and eggs. If you guessed Butter, you’re correct.

Land O’ Lakes has officially removed the center piece of its logo, the Native American woman is now missing.

However, the company did stress a couple of months back that there would be changes to its packaging, and that time is finally here.

In celebration of the brand’s 100th anniversary, the changes of the packaging also include the phrase ‘Farmer-Owned’ now at the top of their product, along with ‘Since 1921’ beneath the brand name.

Some of their products will also include photos of real Land O’Lakes farmers and co-op members as well, according to a news release.

“As Land O’Lakes looks toward our 100th anniversary, we’ve recognized we need packaging that reflects the foundation and heart of our company culture—and nothing does that better than our farmer-owners whose milk is used to produce Land O’Lakes’ dairy products,” said Beth Ford, President and CEO, Land O’Lakes

The company has also confirmed that all products will include these changes by the end of this year.

So if you’re a commoner of buying Land O’ Lakes, expect quite a few changes to the packaging when you’re shopping for your butter!
