A LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special Is Coming To Disney+ And I Can’t Wait

Oh. My. Gosh. This is the best news I’ve heard all day — Nay, all week.

There is going to be a Lego Star Wars Holiday Special, and it is going to premiere on Disney+ Tuesday, November 17th, to celebrate the Star Wars holiday of Life Day.

If you don’t know what Life Day is, it is an old Wookie holiday, dating back to 1,500,000 BBY — which is the beginning of Wookie existence.

The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special picks up post-Episode IX and finds Rey continuing her Jedi training. She comes upon something mystical in a Jedi temple that sends her hurtling through time, meeting Star Wars legends and visiting places of the past — but still, she must get back home for Life Day.

In planning for this film, the team looked at some of their favorite holiday movies, which included Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

(p.s. If you haven’t seen Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, you are MISSING THE BOAT on Holiday movies!! Get yourself over to HBO Max, and watch it!)

What the LEGO Star Wars team noticed was that what all the good holiday movies had in common was that they tried to win you over with a theme and good story telling.

You know, all the Holiday movies tug at your heartstrings, and have you rooting for family, friends, and good feelings.

“Whether all of those specials are great or not, they are trying to warm you with a theme about being with your family, caring, loving others, being selfless. These are things that are automatically inherent to Star Wars.”

So, this special is going to focus on Rey, and her dealing with the fact that she is now the only Jedi, but she still needs to fit in time with family and friends to round out her existence.

I. Can’t. Wait! You can BET I’ll be tuning into Disney+ on November 17th for this fun LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special. Will you be there, too?

HEY!! Maybe we can plan a Disney+ Group Watch Party!!
