Have you already tried the hot cocoa bombs that everyone has been making? Well it’s time to step it up and try these marshmallow flower bombs that everyone has been talking about!
These look so amazing and I can not wait to get the girls together to make them here at home. So of course I had to find out exactly how to make these magical marshmallow flower bombs imediately.
This is the perfect way to make your cup of hot cocoa look pretty and fun! You can make them vanilla or any other flavor that you want, peppermint would be fun.
Here is how to make Marshmallow Flower Bombs
First you need to combine the following in a sauce pan:
- 1/4 cup ice-cold water
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2/3 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 tsp salt
Stir all ingredients and put a lid on your sauce pan. Cook for 5 minutes then remove the cover and cook until the syrup reaches 240ºF. Once it has reached 240ºF, remove it from the heat.
Next you’ll need to combine the following ingredients in your stand-up mixer bowl.
- 2/3 cup ice-cold water
- 2 packets of gelatin
Using the mixer on the low setting, start slowly and add your syrup to the mixture. Once it is completely incorporated, you’ll then turn your mixer to high speed and whip until it’s very thick and fluffy.
Once it is thick and fluffy you can add 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract or other flavorings. Continue mixing until it has evenly incorporated.
In a mixing bowl combine the following ingredients:
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
Mix the powdered sugar and cornstarch together and set aside. Then cover a sheet tray with parchment paper. Grease the parchment paper with butter.
Next you will sprinkle half of the powdered sugar and cornstarch mixture onto the parchment paper. Now you can pour the marshmallow mixture on top of this.
You’ll want to use a spatula and spread it as evenly as you can. Now take the remaining powder sugar and cornstarch mix and sprinkle it over the top of the marshmallow mixture.
You’ll need to let this sit so it can firm up which will take about 6 hours. You can also leave it overnight and finish the next day.
How To Make The Chocolate Cups
The next step is the chocolate cup to hold your flower! You’ll need 1 cup of melted chocolate to pour into your silicone cupcake molds.
Coat the cupcake molds with a thin layer of the melted chocolate. Once you’ve done this, place them in the refrigerator until they solidify.
Once they are solid you can pop the chocolate cups from the molds pretty easily.
When the marshmallow mixture has firmed up you can use a cookie cutter to cut out your flower-shaped marshmallows. It’s easier to cut the marshmallows if you dust the cookie cutter with cornstarch.
Place your cut marshmallows on a cutting board or tray that you have dusted with cornstarch. Then, using a knife, slice between the petals a bit.
Now you can decorate your flowers, make sure you define the center by placing some melted chocolate to adhere a truffle or some candy pearls.
The last step is to place the marshmallow flowers into the chocolate cups. You can secure this with a bit of melted chocolate at the bottom, then let it set.
Fix yourself a mug of hot cocoa and top it with one of your gorgeous homemade marshmallow flower bombs! As the chocolate cup melts, your flower will open to cover the top of your drink.
