This New Disney Short Features Disney's First Plus-Size Protagonist and We Are Here For It

Disney has their first plus-size princess!

Meet Bianca, a young lady with a passion for ballet.

And for the very first time, Disney introduces their first plus-size heroine.

A short film that centers around Bianca struggling to find her confidence while also figuring out how to manage her body dysmorphia.

In Disney’s Short Circuit series, season 2, the new film dubbed “Reflect” starts with Bianca attending ballet class alongside her very thin classmates and instructor.

Throughout the short, Bianca glances in the mirror, looking back at her body and suddenly the mirror cracks as the background of the ballet studio fades away.

And in this very scene, many viewers have interpreted it as Bianca experiencing her body dysmorphia.

The film shows the real-life pressures of many young women with body dysmorphia today and the short itself, is groundbreaking for Disney as Walt Disney has often made plus-size characters as extras or villains in previous stories.
