Not as scared as I should be…
So, I read a lot of blogs… lately they have been a lot of writing related blogs, because that is what I need to learn more about. The thing that scares me is that a lot of those people are worried about the publishing industry right now, and of course this is right when I want to break into it. For some reason though… I am not all that worried about it. I mean, I knew it was going to be a hard thing to get involved in, and I know that agents are going to rip my book apart. And, I know the economy is a mess right now. The economy part os just so frustrating, and I think it’s because I can’t really do anything to prepare myself for that part… it’s just how it is.
I can keep wishing that things would turn around, and I can keep listening to news anchors tell me that they are seeing an upswing. But, those same news anchors are mentioning thousands of layoffs in the same breath. This does not say upswing to me.
So, now I am trying to get a book published in a very scary economy, and all I really have to sell myself is the fact that I believe in the story. I do believe that my story is good, and I hope that other people feel the same way!
So, deep breaths everyone… things are on an upswing 🙂
Best of luck with getting your book published. I keep reading about the demise of the publishing world, too, but I gotta believe people still love to read, and people still love to read good stuff. So if your stuff is good, I think it will eventually find a home . . . even if publishers are cutting down on their lists.
