OnlyFans Will Soon Ban Adult Content And I’m Pretty Sure They Just Lost Some Followers

OnlyFans is getting out of the pornography business.

I know only one thing about OnlyFans. It is a place where sex workers get paid money by people who visit the site.

To be honest, I’m not even sure if it is considered a website or a social media site.

If I make an educated guess, I’d guess you call it a social media site, because these sex workers get paid by “followers.”

There is only one problem with this whole scenario. OnlyFans is getting out of the porn business. *Wide Eye Emoji*

I mean, what? This hurts my brain. It’s a site where sex workers can “sell themselves,” but now they can’t post porn?

In its defense, OnlyFans is also for fans of musicians, fans of fitness influencers, fans of celebrity chefs of sorts, and other fans in general.

But, legitimately, the ONLY thing I have ever heard about the site (and one reason I have never visited it) is that it is a meat market for the sex industry.

The site became a legitimate hub for “fans” during the pandemic, when people couldn’t get out of the house to get their entertainment — music, sexual, or whatever.

According to Bloomberg, “sex workers, musicians and online influencers used it to charge fans for exclusive access to photos, videos and other material. OnlyFans has attracted more than 130 million users.”

OnlyFans is positioning itself more as a forum for musicians, fitness instructors and chefs than sex workers.

So far, some of the site’s most popular “influencers” (some call them “creators”) post videos of themselves engaging in sexual behaviors and situations. I mean, sex sells, right?

But, celebrities are also starting to take to the site to hype up their fans.

I know there was a whole “scandal” where Bella Thorne joined the site to boost her “fans.” Of course, she was allegedly posting racy photos.

One sex worker from the OnlyFans website even commented, “To witness a celebrity gentrifying a platform and making obscene amounts of money without acknowledging the plight of sex workers is truly a slap in the face.”

But, it seems that OnlyFans is now stepping back from helping out these same sex workers that make a killing in the money department on their site.

These sex workers (or all users of the site, really) will still be allowed to post nude photos and videos of themselves, but now they have to stay consistent with the OnlyFans new policy.

See, it’s all about money here. OnlyFans is trying to get support (in the form of $1 billion) from legitimate outside investors, who I guess want the site toned down just a bit.

In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines.

So, this site, which really saw its niche in the world of the sex industry, is really going to become another Facebook type site, but for influencers.*

OnlyFans started off the year by bringing an app to the masses. Only, this app doesn’t allow any nudity.

This is really going to be a bummer for all those sex workers who have heavily relied on OnlyFans as a safe place to do what they do.

If you look at all the promos, they don’t promote us at all. I noticed a huge drop in them promoting people who did sex work.

OnlyFans is still tweaking their user guidelines, but they will provide more information as to what they will allow under this new policy at a later time.

*My opinion, for what it’s worth.
