I am not a nice person when I’m hungry. Everyone who has spent any real amount of time with me has made a joke about HANGRY JAMIE at some point. But here’s the deal– when you’re hangry, (so hungry you’re angry) you need something real, something substantial. Something jam packed with protein that’s healthy AND delicious.
So, to avoid the hangries without making me feel weighed down in the afternoons, I make a smoothie, and this is Orange Dreamsicle Protein Smoothie is one of my favorite recipes of all.
Oh man, just looking at that smoothie makes me hungry.
Here’s What You Need To Make The Orange Dreamsicle Protein Smoothie:
- One Orange
- 1 Banana
- 1/4 Cup Carrots
- Silk Vanilla Soymilk
- 1 Cup of Ice
Here’s How To Make The Orange Dreamsicle Protein Smoothie:
Peel your orange and banana, toss them into the blender along with your ice, carrots and soymilk.
Blend it all together for a tasty, delicious protein filled smoothie and you will never go HANGRY again!
There are some fun variations on this smoothie that you can try, too:
- Add a little vanilla flavoring to give it a richer flavor
- Mix in some blueberries or raspberries if you want it a little sweeter.
- Add the juice of 1 lime. (My husband insists that the key ingredient to ALL successful smoothies is the juice of 1 lime and refuses to drink his without this addition.)
- Double the ice, and it makes a lot more smoothie without really sacrificing the taste. (I do this all the time when I have kids over to play!)
