Peloton Has Issued A Recall On All Of Their Treadmills And It’s About Time
Just a couple weeks ago we brought you the news that Peloton was refusing to recall their treadmills — even after children and pets were getting stuck underneath them.
Well now, Peloton is recalling ALL their treadmills, because a child actually died after getting stuck under one of the machines.
Not only was there a death, but there have been 70 other reports of injuries to children because of the pricey machines.
Peloton recalled its Tread+ and Tread treadmills Wednesday, and the company admitted it was wrong to fight the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s request that it do so.

These treadmills are, indeed, super cool, super sleek, and super sought after — just the NAME Peloton makes you want to get up and workout, doesn’t it?
While it may sound like THE treadmill that everyone should own, all of these horrible incidents related to the Peloton Tread+ caused the U.S. government to release a warning statement regarding the exercise equipment.
Peloton initially dug in their feet, and refused to issue a recall, stating that one only needs to use the equipment properly, and heed all the warnings before turning the machine on.
But, now the company is backtracking on their immediate reaction, and they are actually recalling ALL of their treadmills.
I want to be clear, Peloton made a mistake in our initial response to the CPSC’s request. We should have engaged more productively with them from the outset. For that, I apologize.
John Foley, Peloton CEO
The treadmills have been completely recalled, including taking them off of the Peloton website.
In response to the incidents, the CEO of Peloton, John Foley, said that Peloton was going to “set new industry safety standards for treadmills” because Peloton, as a company, has a “desire and a responsibility to be an industry leader in product safety.”
So, the Peloton treadmills might be AMAZING, but if you have one, please heed the recall.
