Pineapple on pizza? Try pickles instead.

Pizza Hut most recently just welcomed pickles on pizza (and voluntarily) I should say, but are you really that surprised?

Considering the cult following in regards to the sour fruit, we all knew this day would come, but so soon?

Aptly named the Pickle Pizza, the chain has officially made pickles a topping for their cheese pizzas.

I mean, there’s still always the choice of opting for pepperoni instead.

“We’re always looking for innovative ways to add new tastes and textures to our dishes, and pickles have been gaining popularity due to their versatility,” explains Penny Shaheen, Pizza Hut’s head of food innovation in a press release.

So whether you prefer pickles on your slice or not, you should know that Pizza Hut’s Pickle Pizza isn’t just sliced pickles thrown onto any cheese pizza.

In fact, the pizza chain has put a twist on the tangy trend.

Starting with a hand-tossed crust, Pizza Hut then adds a Buttermilk Ranch base, omitting the usual tomato sauce that’s typically evenly spread onto the dough.

Cheese, crispy breaded chicken breast that’s seasoned with Nashville Hot, white onions, and extra spicy dill pickles are layered on top for a pizza that might make you want to carry a breath mint after eating.

The pizza is finally finished with a drizzle of Buttermilk Ranch because why not?

So, does Pizza Hut’s new twist with pickles on pizza persuade you into trying the new pie?

“With our new Pickle Pizza, we’re tapping into the latest food trends while also putting culinary thought into how they come to life on a pizza,” says Shaheen. “Our recipe is all about great flavor, balancing the tanginess of pickles with other classic ingredients we know taste good on our beloved pizza.”

Now before you start dialing Pizza Hut’s number to order a pizza, the chain is only serving this pizza hot in New York only, specifically on 932 8th Avenue in New York City.

So whether you’re a fifteen minute walk away or taking a road trip to the city, the Pickle Pizza is currently being served now until June 11, and that is until supplies last.

Therefore if you want our advice, take lunch early today to snag your slice.

Pizza Hut also notes that if you do decide to try their Pickle Pizza, you’ll have to order in-store to do so.
