7 Plants You Can Grow That Will Help Get Rid Of Bugs
There are some plants you can grown around your house, to keep those mosquitos and other summer bugs at bay. THANK GOODNESS, because all the bugs like the flavor of my sweet, soft skin.

You can SUPPOSEDLY just plant these plants around your house, and they will grow with all the other plants. That is GREAT, since I tend to murder all my plants.

Now, there are most often times, more than one variety of the same plant. So, don’t be surprised if you go to your local nursery, and the plants look just a little different. It will totally be okay.

They say to plant these plants below your windows, around your door and back porches, and anywhere else you tend to hangout.

Do you have a pool? Trampoline? Do your kids play in the yard? Take that into consideration when planting these plants in the ground.

Flies and mosquitoes are repelled by the Basil plant. BONUS -- you can tear some up, and add it to your cooking! It gives a totally bright and tasty flavor to pastas, drinks, and salads.
My mom SWEARS by chrysanthemums. We ALWAYS had them around our house growing up. They are supposed to be good at getting rid of roaches, ticks, and spiders. All of which send a shiver down my spine. *Ack!*
Lemongrass is a GREAT plant for detering those pesky mosquitoes. It can be planted any time of year, and requires full sunlight (And of course, don't be like me, and forget to water it). By the way, lemongrass is used to make citronella, which is often used in candles and sprays as a mosquito repellent.
Of course, if you have a kitty, they won't be able to get enough of this plant. BUT, you know what hates the catnip? Deer ticks, roaches, and mosquitoes. Give me all the catnip, right?
I hate, hate, hate little gnats. I loathe mosquitos more than ANYTHING, but those little gnats that just swarm around your face are SO annoying. People say, just plant some lavender, and it will keep the gnats away. Plant those suckers by your doors, windows, and outdoor trash cans, AMIRITE?!?
This HAS to be my favorite plant for repelling bugs AND for adding to my summer beverages! Yum! If you trust my friends on social media, they say once you plant mint in the ground, it pretty much takes care of itself. I did NOT have that experience, but then, I do NOT have a green thumb. Mint is GREAT for getting rid of mosquitos. I know this from essential oil experience! It will also help do away with ants and spiders.
Fresh Rosemary is SO good with meats or in soups. BUT, it is also great at deterring mosquitoes and flies. Did you know that this is a blooming plant? It makes little purple buds.
It is no secret, I kill any plant I have ever tried to grow. I was told that peppermint basically grew by itself, and multiplied quickly. I killed it.

But yet, I continue to try.
The only thing I HAVEN’T killed is my Succulent I got at Trader Joe’s last week, and the Lucky Bamboo I got at Aldi on the same day. Don’t worry. There’s still PLENTY of time for them to shrivel up. Ha!
