A new hybrid live-action Smurfs movie is headed to theaters.

While that’s awesome news all on its own, we have some pretty cool news for you.

Rihanna is going to voice the role of — my favorite Smurf — Smurfette in this new live-action hybrid movie from Paramount Animation.

The pop singer, and Super Bowl Halftime Show alum, headed to CinemaCon in Las Vegas to drop the good news herself.

I wish I could have been there for that!!

I tried to get the Papa Smurf role but it didn’t work out.

Rihanna

According to Today, besides starring in the new Smurf movie, Rihanna will also write and record new songs for the film.

Do I hear Oscar buzz already?!?

So, what is the Smurf movie going to be about?

Well, according to the Paramount head of animation, Ramsey Naito, it is going to be a movie about finding your identity. It will ultimately answer the question, “What is a Smurf?”

This is not Rihanna’s first foray into the world of voice acting.

You might remember that she lent her voice talents to the DreamWorks animated feature Home, where she played Gratuity ‘Tip’ Tucci.

She has also appeared in a few live-action flicks, including Battleship, This Is the End, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Ocean’s 8, and Guava Island.

The Smurfs Movie is set to drop into theaters on Valentine’s Day — February 14 — 2025.
