Biden just implemented a Stimulus Bill that will give up to $9,000 for funeral costs to grieving family members who have lost loved ones due to COVID-19.

Unfortunately the number of people dying because of COVID keeps climbing.

The U.S. alone has lost more than 562,000 people to this awful pandemic.

Side Note: THIS is why getting the COVID Vaccine and staying masked up are so important!

Families are having to scramble to find money to cover burial costs — ON TOP of their everyday expenses, which many are having a hard time affording as it is.

Not to mention, there are so many people that don’t have a bit of life insurance, leaving loved ones desperate to come up with money to give their family members proper burials.

This new program helps these families with much-needed financial support, so they can bury their loved ones with dignity, and not have to worry so much about going into debt to do so.

Who Qualifies For Support Under This New Program?

First of all, funeral expenses must be for a person who passed in the United States from COVID — the death certificate must state so.

The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien who incurred funeral expenses after January 20, 2020.

Now, the APPLICANT must be a U.S. citizen, a non-citizen national, or qualified alien, but there is no stated requirement that the deceased individual must have been a U.S. citizen, a non-citizen national, or qualified alien.

What Documentation Is Needed To Get Support?

In short, you will need to provide an official death certificate, any funeral expense documents, and if you received funds from any other sources, you will have to show proof.

You can go to the FEMA website for a more detailed list of support documentation that will be needed to receive these funeral benefits.

How Do You Receive Funeral Support Money?

Much like the stimulus checks, you will either receive a paper check in the mail, or funds will be directly deposited into your bank account.

You actually choose how you want to receive these funds when you apply.

How Do You Apply For Funeral Assistance?

You must call a dedicated toll-free phone number, and a FEMA representative will assist you in completing an application for this program.

There’s currently no option to apply for assistance online. FEMA also hasn’t assigned a deadline to apply for funeral assistance and has only said it will communicate a specific deadline once one is established.
