20 Ways – A Complete How To Gently Cleanse And Charge Crystals Guide (Safe)

How To Cleanse And Charge Crystals:

Crystals have a very active life before they reach your home. They’re traded and shipped all over the world.

How To Clean Crystals

What does this mean? Well, it means your new crystal that you just brought home has all these negative energies from all the different places it’s been. Then you have to get rid of the bad feelings and bring on the high vibrations.

So, how do you get clean crystals free of that old energy?

In order to prepare them for their new life in your home, you should cleanse and charge your crystals.  You can use lots of different ways to clean your crystals of the negative energies and completely get rid of that unwanted energy that’s harshing your vibe.

Cleansing a crystal is removing its energy in order to prepare it for its new life with you. You want your stone to be pure and clean, just like it’s new.

It’s all about bringing the crystal’s energy back to its original state.

While charging the stone is trying to replenish its own energy. This can be done using several different cleansing methods. There is no one easy way to get it back to its original way.

Just like there is no one best way to cleanse.

To cleanse my crystals, I have used salt water, direct sunlight, Tibetan singing bowls, sea salt, or even just a bowl of water and some table salt, and all were very successful at cleansing crystals and getting rid of the bad vibes and stagnant energy.

This isn’t something to be afraid of or scared of at all. Crystals are a very positive thing, and lots of light workers and healers work extensively with them.

Just think happy thoughts when you’re working with your crystals. It helps them attune to your energy better.

Let’s go through the importance of cleansing and charging crystals, and show you exactly how you can do that.

People often times think that it’s okay to just use a crystal right when you get it, but it isn’t. Crystals are SO good at hanging on to different energies, and when you let them keep that energy, it can really mess with the way you react to your crystal.

I mean, I get it, it’s just a rock to a lot of people. But it’s a really pretty rock, and when you look at your crystals, you will start to feel a certain way. It’s a good thing!

Why Should You Cleanse Your Crystals?

People use crystals to soothe their body and mind. They believe that the crystals project energies that align with their own, making them work for the individual that has purchased them.

When I want to feel a certain way for the day, I always put crystals in my bra. Hey if nothing else, they’re nice and cool against your skin. But I do recommend using tumbled stones in your bra instead of the raw ones.

You can also use crystals to amplify your spellwork or even just your meditation practice. The idea of using stones in both of these things is not new, and has been done for centuries. Why? Because it works. Crystals are a great way to focus the right energy into whatever you’re concentrating on.

Cleansing your crystals is important because they might contain energy from others who have had the crystal before you. You want it to start a new life when it enters your home. The crystals travel all over the place and pick up different energies along the way.

You don’t want the crystals containing energies that might not align with yours. This could prevent them from providing the full soothing effect that you’re hoping for.

Make sure that you’re properly cleansing your crystals in order to receive the energy that matches with your own.

What Are The Most Effective Ways To Cleanse Your Healing Crystals?

There are many different methods that people use to cleanse their crystals. Different methods work for different crystals. Here are some of the most common and effective ways to cleanse your stones and get rid of unwanted energies.

Water

Running water is a great and powerful way to neutralize any stored energy. A stream is preferred, but cleansing the crystal under a faucet works as well. Make sure that all of the crystal is completely submerged in clean water, then rinse it off when you’re finished.

Water is not the safest way to cleanse your crystals. Not all crystals can get wet. Some more porous stones can dissolve in water or even put off a chemical you shouldn’t get in touch with. This is especially true if it’s a soft crystal, softer stones tend to be more porous.

Brown Rice

Filling a bowl with brown rice and fully submerging your crystals is said to have a positive effect. Submerge the crystal for 24 hours, and then dispose of the rice. The rice will have absorbed the energy from the crystal, so you’ll want to get rid of it.

I am not even kidding when I say don’t eat this rice. It’s a great idea to use rice that has been sitting out for a really long time or rice that you don’t intend to eat later.

Natural Light

Natural light is a great way to neutralize energies. You don’t want to leave it out in the direct sun all day, as that can weather the stone. What you’ll want to do is set it on the earth before nightfall and bring it in around 11 am the following day.

The light of the full moon or even a new moon is a popular choice for upping both cleansing and upping the energetic level of your crystals.

This way the crystal gets exposure to both the sunlight and moonlight, without leaving it out in the midday heat.

Smoke

Smoke is one of my favorite ways to cleanse because it’s simple and effective. Just the act of watching the smoke from the incense stick wrap around the crystal and helps me to visualize cleansing the crystals. For me, the visual component is one of the most important parts and how I know the cleansing was done effectively.

Sound Healing

Sound healing is known to have a positive effect on crystals. Pitches or tones can help get rid of unwanted energies. You can accomplish this by chanting, or using a tuning fork or singing bowls.

You can do this for five to ten minutes. This is a preferred method for those who have a large collection of crystals.

There are other ways to help neutralize the energies of your crystals, but these are some of the most used. Follow these directions if you want to get rid of unwanted energies and create your own.

What kinds of crystals should you use in your practice?

You can use any crystal that you choose, that’s one of the best things about your spiritual journey is that it’s yours and yours alone. Energy work is very personal, but some of the most popular crystals are also some of my favorites. (I get my crystals here.)

What Is Crystal Charging And How To Do It

Crystal charging is much like the charging of your phone. After a while, you might notice that the effect of the crystals are wearing off, and this is when you’ll need to charge them.

Don’t worry though it’s way easier to charge crystals than it sounds. You will sort of feel when the crystal has run out of energy when you place it in your left hand. If you’re getting nothing from it, then it’s time to recharge.

You can charge crystals again and again, they aren’t something you throw out once they lose their charge, you can do this as much as you need to. Some crystals will need to be charged more frequently than others.

What are some of the best ways to make sure that your crystal continues to project the energy that you need?

Moonlight

Many use moonlight to cleanse their crystals, but moonlight can also charge them. It can be said that this gives off a gentle boost of feminine energy. Different moons can present different energies, so if you’re looking to use this method, you might want to look up what energies each moon provides.

Sunlight

Sunlight can provide a masculine energy. Just make sure that the stone you’re using isn’t sensitive to light, and that you haven’t used sunlight to cleanse it. The process can take a short amount of time or a long time.

There are a lot of different factors. The type of stone, how much sunlight, how hot it is, and many others. You’ll need to figure all of this out in order to determine the proper amount of time that your stone will need to charge.

Selenite

The easiest way to charge crystals is with a selenite bowl or even just a piece of selenite you can put your crystals on top of. You can get selenite just about anywhere they sell crystals or herbs, etc. and it’s an awesome crystal itself, because it actually helps to charge up other crystals.

There’s a lot of debate about cleansing selenite. Many say you should, but most believe it isn’t necessary to cleanse selenite. So, you can make that decision for yourself. I usually cleanse my selenite just because it’s easy enough to cleanse it when I am cleansing my other stuff.

Burial

Sometimes the crystals become so heavy with negative energy that you need to return it to mother earth in order to be cleansed. This is true for stones that you might have purchased at an antique shop, or somewhere where it has been passed around for a long period of time.

Depending on the stone, you can bury it by itself or you can put it in a box. Depending on the energy, you might need to leave it there for a day, a week, a year, or maybe even a lifetime. You might need to prepare yourself to let go of the stone forever, depending on its energy levels.

This is the worst-case scenario. Meaning that you’ll only use this method if all other methods have proven unsuccessful.

Why? Because it’s drastic. But the thing is, crystals came from the earth. They are going to remember their energy patterns when they are directly connected to the earth. Try this crystal cleansing method at your own risk.

Your mileage may vary.

How Should You Not Cleanse Your Crystals?

It’s important that you don’t use sage sticks, smudge sticks, or palo santo to cleanse your crystals, as both of these crystal smudging methods (and the actual act of “smudging) are all part of closed practices that you shouldn’t mess with unless you’ve been invited into.

What does this mean? It just means it’s a good idea for you to cleanse instead of smudge, and for you to use materials that are ethically sourced when crystal cleansing.

We like to respect the beliefs and cultures of others on a regular basis as a general rule, but it can also really block your third eye or sacred space if you don’t.

Caring For Your Crystals Means Caring For Yourself

The bottom line is simple: Caring for your crystals is caring for yourself. If you’re going to purchase different stones, you need to take the necessary measures to ensure that each stone is giving off the maximum amount of energy that it can.

Sometimes you will notice that a stone gives off a completely different energy than it’s supposed to and that’s okay– that happens with stones in the same way it happens to humans. Not every rock can fit into the same box.

When you start to think of energy as a living breathing thing going in and out of all matter at all times, energy makes so much more sense. And the idea of using the energy within a crystal to harness the power of that energy makes even more sense.

It might seem like a lot at first, but it’s totally worth it when you feel amazing, and are able to manifest your dream life all because you have properly charged crystals.

By taking the proper steps to cleanse and charge your crystals, your energies will align. When the energy from the stone mixes with your energy, there are countless positive effects.
