Netflix’s New True Crime Docuseries Is About Cyntoia Brown, The 16 Year Old Convicted Of Murder
There is a new True Crime documentary coming to Netflix, and I have been waiting to hear this story for a long time.
You may remember a story out of Tennessee, that started way back in 2004.
It is the story of Cyntoia Brown, who was 16 years old at the time of her incarceration.
She was a victim of sex trafficking, but at the time, people just saw her as a prostitute.
Cyntoia feared for her life, and shot her solicitor, Johnny Allen, who ended up dying.
Although Cyntoia was a MINOR at the time, and although she was FORCED into sex trafficking by Allen, she was tried as an adult, and ended up getting two life sentences.
After spending 15 years in prison, she was granted clemency by Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, and was finally released from prison in August of 2019.
Her case gained a lot of attention, and she even started getting the support of celebrities, like Kim Kardashian West.
On April 29th, we will be able to follow Cyntoia’s story through a documentary that will debut on Netflix.
We will hear her speak, as she becomes the voice for women who have been forced into the same awful situation. This is an uphill battle to fight within the U.S. Judicial system, but Cyntoia’s story just might be the wakeup call the courts need to start making the educated decisions that need to be made.
