A New Snake Has Been Found And It Is Named After Salazar Slytherin From Harry Potter
A new green pit viper snake has been discovered, and it has been named, appropriately, Trimeresurus salazar.
It’s always fun when the world of fantasy collides with the real world. It’s even BETTER when it’s Harry Potter!
This new snake was discovered in India, and the researches thought the name Salazar would be PERFECT — and it IS!
Afterall, Salazar Slytherin was one of the founders of Hogwarts. He could not only talk to snakes, but House Slytherin was named in his honor — And the snake is the symbol of the Slytherin House.
Quite coincidentally, the Slytherin House color is GREEN! It just so happens that this Trimeresurus salazar pit viper is GREEN!!
In the research, the team suggests the snake commonly be known as Salazar’s pit viper.

One of the things that makes the Trimeresurus salazar pit viper stand out from other pit vipers is the orangish red stripe that the males of the species have on their heads.
I guess the MALE snake is confused, and thinks he is part Slytherin and part Gryffindor. Ha!
