These Animal Candles Reveal A Skeleton When Burned And They Are Creepy Cool

My Halloween obsessed children would think these candles were cool and a little freaky. My Mom and teacher heart thinks they would be a great way to teach about the skeletal system!

These PyroPet Skeleton Candles come in a bunch of different animal types and burn to show a metal skeleton.

There are now 18 candles sold worldwide.

The black cat and the unicorn are the most popular, but deer, dogs, owls, and even dragons are available. I found them at Amazon and a number of Boutique shops.

After burning the candle you still have the metal skeleton. One creative person used her dragon skeleton to support her air plant. Now she has a fire plant!

The original cat candle, called “The Devils Pet” caught on so quickly that a Kickstarter campaign was launched to finance a startup. In four days they met their goal and at the end of the campaign had achieved 250% of their goal.

The candles are made of paraffin and need to be placed on a fire-safe surface. Paraffin runs – so you might want to take that into account as well.

Of course, be careful around children. They will be fascinated by the emerging skeleton but need to be kept from the spooky fire.
