Ahhh this is the news I was hoping for!!

Last year we opted-out of trick-or-treating with our kids. While we certainly made it fun with Halloween Piñatas, it just wasn’t the same.

And this year, we’ve been debating on whether or not trick-or-treating would be a safe activity for our kids especially since they are still unvaccinated (they are under 12 years of age).

With that being said, news just broke that The CDC Director Says It Will Be Safe For Children To Trick-or-Treat This Halloween and that makes my heart happy!

During an interview on Sunday, Rochelle Walensky, the director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said children could safely trick-or-treat on Halloween this year so long as they do so outdoors.

“If you’re able to be outdoors, absolutely,” Walensky said during an appearance Sunday on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

Now, this means that kids could go door to door in small groups safely but as for Halloween parties and large gatherings, especially indoors, those events should be avoided.

“I wouldn’t necessarily go to a crowded Halloween party, but I think that we should be able to let our kids go trick-or-treating in small groups, and I hope that we can do that this year,” she added.

That is great news!

If you have been on the fence about going trick-or-treating with your kids, this should give a bit of peace of mind.

Of course, if you really want to go and are really worried, you could have your kids wear a mask as they trick-or-treat and wipe off their candy with disinfectant when you get home.

I for one and super excited to have a little bit of normalcy back this year even if it’s just for one night.
