Disney+ Officially Announced That The ‘Willow’ Series Is On The Way, I’m So Excited

Please tell me you’ve watched ‘Willow’! I loved this movie, the original came out way back in 1988 and it was a dark fantasy style drama.

Well, Disney+ just confirmed that ‘Willow’ is coming back! It won’t be on the big screen as a movie, but it is coming back as a series on Disney+.

It’s been so long and I’m super excited about this! The original was directed by Ron Howard and he will be returning on this project as executive producer.

Warwick Davis is coming back and will play Willow Ufgood, the same character he did in the original movie! I love that!

It’s creatively exciting to not only revisit the world and characters first conceived by George Lucas, Bob Dolman and myself but to see it take flight in such fresh, fun and cinematic ways through the imagination of Jon Kasdan and Team Willow. This isn’t a nostalgic throw-back, it’s a creative lean-forward and it’s a blast to be a part of it all.

The ‘Willow’ sequel series takes place years after the events in the original movie. It’s been said that it will introduce completely new characters, although Willow remains the star. I’m highly doubting that Val Kilmer would be in on this.

I can’t wait to watch the new adventures that Willow will have in the new ‘Willow’ sequel series on Disney+! Willow is coming in 2022 to Disney+!
