Benedict Cumberbatch Has Confirmed That Doctor Strange 2 Is Finally In The Works

FINALLY! I LOVE the Marvel series, but Doctor Strange became a favorite of mine very fast! So to find out that their second movie, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is FINALLY going to get cameras rolling has me absolutely ESTATIC!

Obviously, nothing has gone very smoothly lately with all the lockdowns and quarantining. So all filming was tabled. But we finally have word from our main man star, Benedict Cumberbatch that everything is starting back up again!

🚨Doctor Strange 2 Starts Filming Soon, Says Benedict Cumberbatch🚨 – Speaking with Watchtime India, Cumberbatch addressed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' progress, revealing the cameras will be rolling soon. As a matter of fact, the cast and crew should be assembling in a matter of weeks: “I’m in pre-production with the second Doctor Strange film, which is very exciting. We will start filming in late October or early November.”If that's the timeline for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, concrete details about the movie should be announced in the near future. In particular, much of the supporting cast needs to be rounded out. Joining Cumberbatch for the sequel are Doctor Strange veterans Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Wong, in addition to Elizabeth Olsen (the movie connects with WandaVision). There's been talk Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is looking to cast America Chavez, though nothing official has come out on that front yet. It'll be interesting to see who else joins the ensemble, but it's an encouraging sign production is moving forward so quickly. This gives Raimi more than enough time to get the final product ready for 2022. That said, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is looking to commence principal photography during the pandemic, which comes with risks. Over the past couple of months, a number of upcoming movies and TV shows have gotten back to work, but it hasn't been all smooth sailing. Most notably, The Batman had to shut down temporarily after Robert Pattinson reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. Also, Riverdale and multiple Arrowverse shows went on hold due to testing delays. Obviously, Disney and Marvel have a plan to film in the midst of a global health crisis (including the necessary health & safety protocols), but that doesn't mean Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness won't encounter any setbacks. Hopefully, Raimi is able to conduct production without any issues. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness (2022) Release Date: Mar 25, 2022

According to We Got This Covered, in an interview with an Indian magazine discussing watches, Benedict Cumberbatch teased that prep is underway and that the shoot begins imminently, saying:

“I’m in pre-production with the second “Dr Strange” film, which is very exciting. We will start filming in late October or early November.”

I could not be more thrilled. Not only is he one of my favorite male characters in the Marvel series, but the Scarlett Witch is my FAVORITE. I have loved her ever since she got on screen and have been begging for a back story!

Between Covid-19 and the previous director, Scott Derrickson, leaving, there was so much concern going on of whether this was going to actually happen, but I am SO happy to report that it finally is!!!

Now when it comes to plot lines, we’re still a little in the dark. The biggest rumor floating around is that this could be the movie that brings X-Men into the mix, and if that is the case, I will be THRILLED. You don’t even want to get me started on my love of X-Men!!!

Anyone who has been living in Nerd Land with me has been waiting so much for this collaboration to happen! Especially since they’ve already done their collaboration with Guardians of the Galaxy (which actually disappointed me a bit…another story for another time.) So it seems only fitting. And to me, this is the best movie to do it!

Joining Cumberbatch for the sequel are Doctor Strange veterans Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Wong, in addition to Elizabeth Olsen (the movie plans to connect with the Disney+ show, WandaVision).

So what are your thoughts on this new movie coming out? Are you hoping to see X-Men join the ranks? Ready to see what unfolds next for the Marvel series? Just excited that this is a sign of life returning back to normal? Comment below and let us know what you think! And be sure to tell us your favorite Marvel character too! (I’m interested to hear!)
