I can’t say that I didn’t see this coming because I did…

Well, For The First Time Ever, Dollar Tree Will No Longer Just Cost a Dollar.

Now, you might remember about two years ago when Dollar Tree announced many locations across the US would begin including items that were more than a dollar. This was known as “Dollar Tree Plus”.

Let me just say – this is not about Dollar Tree Plus. This is just about Dollar Tree and items that are actually $1.

In a press release, Dollar Tree announced that for the first time ever, they will be breaking their $1 price promise in some stores.

“The Company plans to begin adding new price points above $1 across all Dollar Tree Plus stores and will begin testing additional price points above $1 in selected legacy Dollar Tree stores.”

So, what does this mean? It means it could result in a higher out of pocket expense for you.

Now, we aren’t sure which stores will be seeing these higher price points but as far as the press release goes, it seems like there will be a $0.25-$0.50 increase in prices.

“Our brand promise is that customers get great value for what they spend at Dollar Tree. We will continue to be fiercely protective of that promise, regardless of the price point, whether it is $1.00, $1.25, $1.50.”

So, for now, just keep this in mind. While it does suck, Dollar Tree is just one of the many companies experiencing an increase in costs of goods due to the labor storage and cargo shipments being delayed.

As soon as we know more, we will let you know. You can read the full Dollar Tree Press Release Here.
