Frozen Fruit Has Been Recalled Due to a Potential Hepatitis A Contamination. Here’s What to Know.

Skip the frozen strawberries in your smoothie this afternoon because a voluntary recall has just been issued.

According to the USFDA, Willamette Valley Fruit Co. has made the voluntary recall for several frozen fruit packages that contain strawberries grown in Mexico.

The recall was issued due to a potential Hepatitis A contamination.

So if you’ve recently gone shopping for frozen fruit packs to top on your oatmeal bowl or to blend in your smoothie, here’s what to look out for.

Upon checking your freezers and fridges tonight, here are the packages you need to toss.

The recall includes the Great Value Sliced Strawberries, Great Value Mixed Fruit, and the Great Value Antioxidant Blends that were all sold at Walmart chains in 32 states from January 24 to June 8.

The Rader Farms Organic Fresh Start Smoothie Blend packages that were distributed to Costco stores in several states including Colorado, Texas, California, and Arizona from October 3 of last year to June 8 of the this year have also been affected.

And finally, packages of the Rader Farms Organic Berry Trio that were sold at HEB in Texas from July 18, 2022, to June 8, 2023 have the same fate and are also included in the recall.

Although the good news according to the FDA, is that there has not yet been any reported illnesses that may be associated in the recall.

However, buyers of the frozen fruit products should throw any affected items away immediately.

Customers can also return any recalled packages for a refund as well.
