Mid-June brings us another chance to view a beautiful full moon, this one is called the Strawberry Moon!

Let’s just clear some things up, it isn’t called a Strawberry Moon because it looks like a Strawberry.

According to NASA, it’s called the Strawberry Moon because the Algonquin tribes named it after the Strawberry Plant which grew where they lived.

This moon actually has other names as well, the Europeans call it the Honey Moon or Mead Moon, and others call it the Sweetest Moon.

Those names are due to the timing of when the honey harvest took place in relation to this full moon.

Others call it the Honeymoon due to June being a popular month for weddings, which means more honeymoons happen in June.

No matter what you want to call it, it’s definitely one to take some time to enjoy!

NASA says that the Strawberry Moon is a marginal Supermoon, which means it’s not completely a supermoon and most people won’t notice a size difference in appearance.

Hopefully, you’ll have clear skies where you live on June 13th and 14th so that you can enjoy this beautiful full moon.

The Strawberry Moon (or whatever you prefer to call it) will peak around 7:52 a.m. EST on June 14th, 2022, but you’ll have a good view anytime during the night of June 13th, 2022.

If you are not able to view it on those days, you will have an almost full moon still on June 15th, 2022!
