Johnny Depp’s lawsuit against Amber Heard trial is nearing the end, and I’ve learned so many things I didn’t really think I would ever know.

Amber Heard filed a countersuit against Johnny Depp for $100 million dollars in February of 2020 over a statement that Johnny’s previous lawyer had made.

Adam Waldman had said that Amber Heard fabricated her allegations against Johnny Depp about domestic abuse.

Amber’s legal team says that was a defamatory statement.

According to a report by Deadline, Johnny Depp’s legal team attempted to have the counterclaim stricken because Johnny didn’t make the statement, his ex-lawyer did.

I mean that seems logical right? He didn’t make the statement.

But Judge Penney Azacarate denied the motion to strike the countersuit on the grounds that there is evidence that Adam Waldman was considered an acting agent for Johnny when he made the statement.

As to actual malice, Mr. Waldman made the counterclaim statements after he met with his client. In addition, there’s evidence [Depp] was with Mr. Waldman at a meeting in February, 2020 with the Daily Mail Online… There is more than a scintilla of evidence that a reasonable juror may infer that Mr. Waldman made the counterclaim statements while realizing they were false or with a reckless disregard for their truth.

Benjamin Chew, one of Johnny’s lawyers made the motion to have the counterclaim stricken, but the judge said NOPE.

According to legal experts, this is pretty normal, so we will see what happens.

It is not my role to measure the weight of the evidence.

We can expect the closing statements this Friday, May 27th, 2022.
