Leslie Jones Will Be Hosting The New Supermarket Sweep and I’m Ready To Get My Sweep On
The events of the last 6 months have thrown a major wrench in so many different things, including production of all the awesome fall TV premieres!
One of those shows that faced production issues was the NEW revival of an old favorite: Supermarket Sweep.
Guess what, though. It finally has a drop date, and I’m excited to say that the official premier date for Supermarket Sweep is going to be OCTOBER 18th on ABC!! Sunday nights are about to be FUN!
This reboot is going to showcase Leslie Jones as the new host of the show. Yes, THAT Leslie Jones, the hilarious actress from movies like Ghostbusters, Saturday Night Live, and National Security.
Leslie is HYSTERICAL, and I’m super excited to see her as the lead of the Supermarketers on this new (old?) gameshow!
I’ve always dreamed of being on ‘Supermarket Sweep — Seriously, I tried out for the show years ago; and after getting turned away, I knew I’d have to take matters into my own hands. Being able to bring the iconic game show back to life on ABC is my ultimate redemption story!

Because of the coronavirus, filming of the premier episodes of the show had to be taken down to a CRAZY two-week period. They started taping July 31st, which was FOUR whole months later than they were supposed to start production!
They also had to take special precautions that they had to spend the last few months getting ready for.
There was frequent testing, hand-sanitizing stations, protective equipment and limited contact — all in compliance with suggestions issued by Hollywood’s unions, as well as state and local guidelines — Electrostatic sprayers were used to disinfect the grocery items, allowing for a large swath of inventory to be sanitized more quickly.

Everything has gone surprisingly smooth and swift, and the production company is ready to bring us the show in October, and I’m READY!!
If you want to catch episodes of the ORIGINAL Supermarket Sweep, you can catch them right on Netflix! The streaming giant has added 15 episodes of the classic game show, and you can binge watch them all now!
