We haven’t heard a whole lot about Michael J. Fox since he announced his second retirement from acting, but we kind of expect that’s just the way it is since he has been dealing with life amongst having Parkinson’s.

I think the last thing we heard about Michael J. was when he reunited with Chtistopher Lloyd for the 35th anniversary of Back to the Future.

It was very hard, at that time, not to feel sorry for the guy. He could barely walk, and it’s become quite clear that there is something wrong with him — that he’s dealing with something big.

I mean, we’ve known for just about EVER — more than 30 years — that Michael has Parkinson’s, but it’s become very obvious that it’s controlling his life, getting worse as the years go on.

According to Comicbook.com, Michael J. Fox recently “offered an honest update about his life with Parkinson’s disease during an interview with CBS News.”

It’s getting tougher. Every day it’s tougher, but that’s the way it is. I mean, you know, who do I see about that? You don’t die from Parkinson’s. You die with Parkinson’s. So I’ve been thinking about the mortality of it. I’m not going to be 80. I’m not going to be 80.

Michael gave an eye-opening look into life trying to deal with Parkinson’s Disease.

It’s not pretty, and oftentimes it’s pretty heartbreaking.

I had spinal surgery — I had a tumor on my spine. And – and – and it was benign, but it messed up my walking, and then, started to break stuff. Broke this arm, and I broke this arm, I broke this elbow. I broke my face. I broke my hand.

Now, those breaks that Michael experienced were from falling into and on things.

I can’t even imagine. I just feel so bad for the guy.

[It’s] a big killer with Parkinson’s — It’s falling — and aspirating food, and getting pneumonia. All these subtle ways that get ya’.

How Has Michael J. Fox Been Doing Since His Parkinson’s Diagnosis?

After Michael received his Parkinson’s diagnosis — back in 1991 — he used his status as a celebrity to donate and raise funds for Parkinson’s research.

His hopes — and I think we can all agree that they would be the hopes of everyone — were that the money would help fund research that would find a cure for the disease.

While they haven’t yet been able to find a cure for the disease, they have been able to help improve therapies for people suffering with the debilitating disease.

They have also been able to find a biomarker that might be able to help with early detection of Parkinson’s, thereby being able to treat it sooner.

Our thoughts go out to Michael J. Fox, and we hope and wish nothing but good things for the guy.

Michael’s full interview with Jane Pauley will air April 30th on CBS Sunday Morning and will be available to stream on Paramount+.

You can catch a portion of the interview HERE.
