Necco Wafers Are Back After Disappearing For 2 Years and I’m So Excited
My grandma always had candy for us, cool treats like Mallomars! I also remember Necco Wafers being on hand. A few years ago Necco Wafers disappeared.
Well, now they are back and not much has changed! I know it has only been a few years since they went missing, but things like this spark fond memories for me.
Everything, down to the exact same packaging is the same. I’m not a huge fan of change, I like familiar things. Comfort.
The Spangler Candy company acquired Necco Wafers when New England Confectionery closed in 2018.
We kept the wax wrap around the roll exactly the same and used the same supplier and everything.
Spangler Candy CEO Kirk Vashaw told TODAY in an exclusive interview
They have confirmed that nearly everything is the same! The way it’s made, packaged, everything. The only change is with the chocolate wafer.
Seven of the eight flavors were designed to identically match the originals. True Necco Wafers connoisseurs may detect a richer cocoa flavor in the chocolate wafers due to a minor improvement made in the cooking process.

They still have all 8 flavors which include:
Brown: Chocolate
White: Cinnamon
Purple: Clove
Orange: Orange
Gray: Licorice
Yellow: Lemon
Green: Lime
Pink: Wintergreen
Necco Wafers first came out back in 1847! I love that! So, do you love them or hate them?
I’ve always been able to find them at Cracker Barrel, but you should be able to find them at major retailers everywhere. CVS and Walgreens should have them. I think most grocery stores will be carrying them as well.
