Are you ready for this? Netflix is Working on A Modern Day ‘Golden Girls’ Starring Jane Lynch And Cyndi Lauper!
Yes, Jane Lynch and Cyndi Lauper are set to star in a, yet unnamed, modern Golden Girls-type show.
When I FIRST heard about this new show, which is being made in collaboration with Netflix, I was like, “Aw, hell, no!”
I was under the impression that Netflix was actually trying to make a reboot of the ORIGINAL Golden Girls, and I was NOT cool with that!
I mean, I’m all for great television, but you can’t simply redo the perfection that is The Golden Girls. There is only ONE Blanche, Rose, Dorothy, and Sophia! Don’t even try it, people.
But, thank the good people at Netflix, this is NOT a reboot of The Golden Girls. Crisis averted.
This show is going to be LIKE The Golden Girls, but it will be a completely different show all together. It is set to star 60-year-old Jane Lynch, and 65-year-old Cyndi Lauper.
Side Note — am I the only one FREAKING OUT that Cyndi Lauper is 65?!? Dear, God. When did THAT happen?
We don’t have much information — like, AT ALL — about this new show.
All we know for sure is that it has been confirmed for Netflix, it will star Ms. Lynch and Ms. Lauper, and it will be written in collaboration with Carol Leifer, who worked on Seinfeld.
I will watch just about anything starring Jane Lynch. She totally made Glee that show that it was — go ahead and TRY to prove me wrong! And, have you SEEN Hollywood Game Night? It’s kind of my television secret indulgence.
As for Ms. Cyndi Lauper — I just love her. She is over the top awesome. You can’t beat her for being an American icon, and Gurrrl, she just wants to have fun.
There is no release date set yet, but you KNOW we will let you know as soon as we catch more news on this sure-to-be-hilarious new show.
