If you are the parent of a preschooler, you may have heard of Blippi, the uber-famous YouTube star for the mini humans. He is over-the-top bright, cheery, and bases his show on learning and fun.
He is also in a bit of backlash trouble.
Hopefully you aren’t one of the many who have bought tickets to one of his 30 Live Show Events and special Meet-And-Greets after the shows.
Why? He won’t actually be there.
He is hiring an impersonator actor to take his place in the shows.
Problem is, Blippi didn’t make this clear to anyone BEFORE they bought the tickets.
The shows have costs anxious families anywhere from $26-$70 per ticket, and even more if they want to see Blippi at one the meet-and-greets!
It seems that Ticketmaster also didn’t disclose the information about an actor playing Blippi on the ticket sales page. The only place that mentioned the information about the actor was on the Blippi FAQ page — which you had to know about to search for.
So, who then, is going to be at the meet-and-greets after the shows? The kids get to meet the actor PLAYING Blippi during the tour shows. They do not actually get to meet Blippi, himself.
As you can imagine, many parents are totally upset about the whole situation. After much backlash, Ticketmaster, it seems, will issue refunds to those that prefer not to watch an actor.
This is not the first time that Stevin John (Blippi, himself) has been in a bit of hot water. Before he came up with the Blippi character, he was seen in a Harlem Shake video full-on pooping on a naked friend. The video has since been taken down, and John’s lawyers are trying to sweep it under the rug.
Hopefully you avoided this mess but if you didn’t, you might want to be fighting to get a refund.
