You know, I’m totally down for some technology. Like, I love the fact that I can use a computer to work and communicate.

I love that I can shoot images for my clients and see what I captured on the spot. However, there is some technology that I’m just not that into.

Like robots… I mean, robots for like bomb detonation… totally cool because I don’t want a human to blow up.

But robots that do jobs that take jobs from humans, well… I don’t like it. Right now in Houston Domino’s is introducing a robot car delivery service for certain customers that opt-in for it.

For those that opt-in, a human will not be delivering… a fully autonomous vehicle that looks like some sort of miniature min van will be delivering the pizza.

If you live in the Woodland Heights neighborhood of Houston you can choose the robot delivery service.

You will receive texts that update you on the location of the robot car as well as a code to enter into the car so that you can get your order.

When the driverless vehicle rolls up, you simply enter the code number on the touchscreen. The doors will open and you can get your food.

The vehicle is made by Nuro. The robot car from Nuro was the first completely autonomous delivery vehicle to get approval from the US Department of transportation.

Autonomous means it is completely human-free and it is traveling the roads. Yikes!

There is still so much for our brand to learn about the autonomous delivery space. This program will allow us to better understand how customers respond to the deliveries, how they interact with the robot and how it affects store operations.

I remember when Domino’s used a self-driving car to deliver some pizzas to random people back in 2017. I didn’t like it then either.

One of my favorite jobs while I was in college was delivering pizzas. It was an easy job, kept me in my car listening to music, meeting people, and making great tips.

I worry about those jobs being taken over by robot cars. Jobs that are there for our teenagers, college students, and adults.

I just don’t like it, but would love to hear what you think!
