20 States Are Raising Their Minimum Wages. Here’s What We Know.
Minimum wage has been quite the taboo subject lately. Many have been unsuccessful in making a life for themselves simply working one job.
There have been countless pleads for minimum wages to be raised. And for certain states and business, that has already been achieved. But it seems we already have some great news for 2021.
20 states are planning to have their minimum wages raised by tomorrow, January 1st, 2021. How awesome is that?
Now, before you get TOO excited, understand that while some are getting their minimum wages raised substantially, others are mere cents.
So we’ve provided a list below of what to expect from your state!
Oh and in case you wondering, the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour hasn’t budged since 2009.
The States Increasing Minimum Wage As of 2021
- Alaska: $10.34 – raises by 15 cents
- Arizona: $12.15 – raises by 15 cents
- Arkansas: $11 – raises by $1
- California: $14 – raises by $1
- Colorado: $12.32 – raises by 32 cents
- Florida: $8.65 – raises by 9 cents
- Illinois: $11 – raises by $1
- Maine: $12.15 – raises by 15 cents
- Maryland: $11.75 – raises by 75 cents
- Massachusetts: $13.50 – raises by 75 cents
- Minnesota: $10.08 – raises by 8 cents
- Missouri: $10.30 – raises by 85 cents
- Montana: $8.75 – raises by 10 cents
- New Jersey: $12 – raises by $1
- New Mexico: $10.50 – raises by $1.50
- New York: $12.50 – raises by 70 cents
- Ohio: $8.80 – raises by 10 cents
- South Dakota: $9.45 – raises by 15 cents
- Vermont: $11.75 – raises by 79 cents
- Washington: $13.69 – raises by 19 cents
