Times are crazy right now, and teenage girls have decided they are ready to go back to basics. I never thought I would say this, but the hottest trend right now is ankle length prairie girl skirts and lacy eyelet blouses.

That’s right, teenage girls have gone full little house on the prairie with the latest craze, cottagecore.

It’s all about baking bread from scratch and wearing flowers in your hair.

Why are teenage girls so into this slowed down cottage lifestyle? Because they’re over it. They’re over the hustle and bustle. The spending hours and hours on the perfected makeup.

What is Cottagecore?

Well, it’s an aesthetic–which sort of means like a look or a feeling that is all about a simple life that is romantic and gorgeous and one with nature.

Cottagecore as defined by the aesthetic wiki is “(also known under the name Farmcore or Countrycore) is an aesthetic inspired by a romanticised interpretation of western agricultural life. It is centered on ideas around of a more simple life and harmony with nature. Certain themes associated are the survival of the environment, food and caring for people.”

They’re as ready as the rest of us for a simpler time. A time where tea and bread are enjoyed in the afternoon next to a babbling brook.

And if we’re all being honest with ourselves, couldn’t we all use a little cottagecore in our lives right now?

I know I could…
