The Families First Coronavirus Response Act passed with a 90-8 vote! This could really help many!

The bill will provide free coronavirus testing and ensures paid emergency leave for those who are infected or caring for a family member that has contracted coronavirus.

This bill will also provide additional Medicaid funding, food assistance, and unemployment benefits. Which is HUGE! So many have been out of work and will continue to be out of work for the unforeseeable future.

We will continue to work on the next bill to respond to the crisis, and I want to repeat again that the Senate is going to stay in session until we finish Phase 3. I would recommend senators stay around, close. Just how long it will take to get through these steps is unclear, but as everyone knows, we are moving rapidly because the situation demands it.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said on the chamber floor after the legislation passed.

The Bill had stalled on Saturday because of disagreements on paid leave. The Trump administration had concerns that paid leave could overburden small businesses, which is a valid point.

Lawmakers made changes to limit who would be eligible and those changes passed the House Monday evening.

President Donald Trump has just signed it into law.

The aid package is the 2nd emergency bill that Congress has passed so far. A third will be for coronavirus response is up next for vote.

It is a $1 trillion spending proposal from the White House. It would include $500 billion in direct payments to Americans.
