Here’s The USPS Holiday Shipping Deadlines

‘Tis the season for package delivery! Our postal workers, mail carriers and even package delivery drivers are working hard this holiday season to ensure your packages arrive safe and on time!

With that being said, you should know about the package shipping deadlines to ensure you are doing everything on your end to have your packages delivered long before the holiday season.

Here Are The 2020 USPS Holiday Shipping Deadlines

According to a recent press release:

The Postal Service’s busiest time of the season peaks two weeks before Christmas, when much last-minute shopping starts. Customer traffic is expected to increase beginning Dec. 9, while the week of Dec. 16 is expected to be the busiest time for mailing, shipping and delivery. Additionally, the Postal Service predicts that nearly 2.5 billion pieces of First-Class Mail, including greeting cards, will be processed and delivered the week of Dec. 16.

To make sure your packages arrive before December 25th, here’s when USPS recommends you ship by:

• First Class Package: Ship by December 18th.
• Priority Mail: Ship by December 19th.
• Priority Mail Express: Ship by December 23rd.
• Media Mail & Parcel Select Ground: Ship by December 15th.
• Simple Export Rate, First Class Package International, and Priority Mail International: Ship by November 30th for Africa, Central America, and South America—and by December 7th for the rest of the world.
• Priority Mail Express International: Ship by December 7th for Africa, Central America, and South America—and by December 14th for the rest of the world.

Keep in mind these are delivery estimates from USPS, not guarantees… and especially with the extra package volumes due to the pandemic, you’ll want to ship your packages as far before these deadlines as possible to give USPS plenty of time to get your bounty where it needs to be!

United States and All US Territories

• First-Class Mail (including First-Class Package): December 18
• Priority Mail: December 19
• Priority Mail Express: December 23
• Retail Ground (Parcel Select Ground): December 15
• Alaska to Mainland First-Class Mail: December 18
• Alaska to Mainland Priority Mail: December 19
• Alaska to Mainland Priority Mail Express: December 21
• Hawaii to Mainland Priority Mail & First-Class Mail: December 15
• Hawaii to Mainland Priority Mail Express: December 21
