This is so sad! A tiny owl was found in the branches of the newest Rockefeller Christmas Tree and all I could say is ‘poor thing’!

In Saugerties, New York, the Ravensbeard Wildlife Center received a phone call on Monday morning from an individual who explained that her husband spotted an owl while working for the company that transports and secures the iconic tree.

During the 170-mile road trip to Manhattan, the owl was in between branches of the 75-foot Norway spruce.

The good news is that the owl is fine as far as we know it, according to Ravensbeard Wildlife Center and coincidentally enough, they named the adult northern Saw-Whet Owl, Rockefeller.

They specifically said they’ve given the owl plenty of fluids and as much mice as he can eat since the little guy didn’t have any meals for 3 straight days.

Side note, Rockefeller is full grown! He only looks small because his species is the smallest owl species in North America.

The wildlife center plans on releasing the owl after the vets clear Rockefeller and according to their recent update, workers plan on realesing the owl on the grounds of the Ravensbeard Wildlife Center.

“We believe it would be even more traumatic to transport him yet again when he can be safely released here on the grounds of Ravensbeard Wildlife Center where there are acres of trees to choose from.”
