Cream Cheese Stuffed Bagels Now Exist for the Ultimate Breakfast
Let me just say that there’s no such thing as too much cream cheese on a bagel.
And while the concept of slathering cream cheese on a bagel has yet to change, two brave companies have made the big step in altering the breakfast on the-go for the greater good.
If you’ve ever stopped by a bagel shop because you were craving breakfast in New York, did you know that when you order a bagel with cream cheese you’re paying for an additional tax?
That’s right, the smell of fresh bread might have just cost you additional money.
According to the New York tax Code, a sliced bagel with your choice of butter or cream cheese is considered “prepared food“.
Pretty ridiculous right?
So in order to stop the madness, two companies that you most likely use to supply your morning bagel with cream cheese have come together to give the public a break.
What’s dubbed the Tax Free Bagel, Philadelphia Cream Cheese and H&H Bagels have come together to create a breakfast bagel stuffed with cream cheese; you know, for taxing purposes.
What’s basically considering a tax loophole for your morning meal, the new stuffed bagel with cream cheese isn’t subject to New York’s sandwich tax considering the bagel is not sliced and remains whole.
And oh yeah, the bagel isn’t smeared with cream cheese either!
Rather stuffed than slathered, your morning bagel skips the routine of another layering on the cream cheese and slicing the bagel in half.
And who doesn’t like the sound of a stuffed bagel filled with your favorite cream cheese filling.
“In today’s landscape, people are juggling enough hurdles, and having to pay an extra tax to enjoy their favorite bagel with Philly cream cheese should simply not be one of them,” said Keenan White, Senior Brand Manager, Philadelphia at Kraft Heinz Company in a press release. “A bagel with Philly cream cheese is an experience that so many know and love, so in partnership with H&H bagels, we wanted to provide a delicious solution to this silly tax in a way that kept the enjoyment of our brand at its core, literally.”

The bagels, unsurprisingly, are available now until Tax Day at H&H Bagels stores in Manhattan featuring three different bagel varieties including everything, cinnamon raisin, and plain.
The cream cheese however, only comes in one flavor and that’s the original, plain Philadelphia cream cheese that’s stuffed inside of each bagel.
The tax-free bagels cost just under two bucks, but don’t fret if you’re not in New York to snag one because the stuffed cream cheese bagels are also sold nationwide!
In this scenario, everyone wins.
