Here’s Everything We Know About The Horrific Shooting in Maine and The Suspect Still at Large

I am saddened to see this is still happening and my heart aches for the families who lost a loved one in the horrific tragedy in Maine.

In case you haven’t heard, a gunman opened fire in Lewiston, Maine in a bowling alley late Wednesday leaving at least 18 dead and dozens more hurt.

The details of this horrible tragedy are still unraveling but here is what we know so far…

Everything We Know About The Horrific Shooting in Maine

The Lewiston, Maine shooting marks the 565th mass shooting in the United States this year (which is defined as four or more people being shot or killed).

It is also the 31st mass murder of 2023, defined as four or more people killed.

As of right now, the gunman is at large – meaning they have yet to catch him.

The Suspect is At Large

However, authorities say they know who they are looking for…

Police identified 40-year-old Robert Card, as a “person of interest” and have issued an arrest warrant for him.

A photo of him has been released in hopes someone knows him and can come forward with his whereabouts.

Androscoggin County Sheriff

The Androscoggin County Sheriff Department posted the images on Facebook saying:

***Suspect for identification *** email responses to dispatch@androscoggincountymaine.gov or reply on Facebook messenger.

Law enforcement in Androscoggin County are investigating two active shooter events. We are encouraging all businesses to lock down and or close while we investigate. The suspect is still at large.

According to reports, Robert is a firearms instructor trained by the military and recently was committed to a mental health facility.

A vehicle believed to be his was found in nearby Lisbon.

The shooting took place at Sparetime Bowling Alley in Lisbon, Maine.

Shelter in Place Order

People in Lewiston and two surrounding towns have been urged to stay inside and lock their doors.

The following communities in Maine are sheltering in place:

  • Bowdoin
  • Lisbon
  • Lewiston

Plus, dozens of public school districts are closed across Maine, according to WGME-TV:

This is a horrible tragedy that should have never happened. I am so saddened by this and my heart goes out to the friends and family of those killed in this tragedy.
