Get ready to dig into the sweetest day of the year.
National Donut Day is the first Friday in June — making it June 2nd this year. I’m about to celebrate in the most diet-breaking way possible!!
According to National Day Calendar, National Donut Day was created by The Salvation Army in 1938 to commemorate and celebrate the women who served donuts to World War I soldiers.
I don’t know about you, but I’m all about celebrating women in WWI — especially if donuts are involved!
Donut shops and retailers have traditionally been quite generous on National Donut Day.
Now, specifics have not yet been announced for this year, but we have a list of companies that had freebies last year. I would expect they would do something the same or similar for National Donut Day 2023.
7-Eleven — They offered up the sweetest of buy one, get one free donut deals. This was for 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members, and was valid at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes stores.
Duck Donuts — First of all, if you’ve never had a Duck Donut, you MUST!! Last National Donut Day, all in-store guests got to experience a FREE cinnamon sugar donut. I can taste it right now. This offer was valid for in-store guests, and there was absolutely no purchase necessary to get your free cinnamon sugar donut!
Dunkin’ Donuts — On National Donut Day 2022, guests to Dunkin’ Donuts could get a FREE donut with any beverage purchase. Yep, I took full advantage of this deal!
Krispy Kreme — The king of all donuts. Prove me wrong. Last year, they gave every customer their choice of FREE donut. That’s right. They could choose any donut they wanted!! PLUS, you could buy any dozen Krispy Kreme Donuts and get a glazed dozen for $1.
Randy’s Donuts — Last year, Randy’s Donuts celebrated National Donut Day by giving every guest a FREE classic donut of their choice between 6am and 12pm. To make the deal even sweeter, there was no purchase necessary.
Shipley Do-Nuts — In 2022, Shipley’s let all customers indulge in a free glazed donut with any purchase. I would hope and suspect that they would do something similar this year.
Have a yummy National Donut Day, and eat a donut for me!!
