If You Aren’t Driving Right Now You Can Save Money On Your Car Insurance
You guys!! I love saving every dime I can right now because we simply don’t know what the future holds for us, right?
With that being said, I called my car insurance company yesterday (Geico) and in less than 5 minutes, I was able to lower our car insurance premium by $40 per month!!!
Insane, right?
So, here’s what you need to do…
First, simply pick up the phone or get onto chat with your car insurance agency. Geico doesn’t have an online chat so I called.
I was on hold for only a few minutes and when I got to a representative, I asked them to lower the “amount of miles driver per year”.
They asked me 2 questions – how many days a week I drive my car now AND about how many miles I think I’ll drive this year (it’s just an estimate over the next few months).
Once that is done, they will tell you your new quote and if you’ve paid this month, they will credit you on your next payment.
If you’ve paid in full, they will issue you a refund.
Now, what if you don’t have Geico? This still works!
Some insurance agencies like American Family Insurance and Liberty Mutual are already offering 15% back/off your monthly premium and that is completely automatic (so you don’t need to do anything).
Allstate is giving 15% back on insurance costs for April and May.
So, get onto chat or the phone and ask. It took me less than 5 minutes and will save me about $80 over the next two months.
It may take a little longer if you end up needing to wait to talk to a representative.
Also, keep in mind when we all go back to driving more, you will need to readjust your milage but for now, enjoy the savings!
