Jack Daniel’s New Whiskey Is The Highest Proof They’ve Ever Made and It Even Needs a Special Cork to Contain It
My husband’s favorite adult spirit of choice is whiskey.
We plan entire vacations around the whole whiskey tasting experiences thing, and he can answer just about any question you have about the amber-colored hard stuff.
He is going to go absolutely insane when he hears what Jack Daniel’s is releasing now.
They are bringing us the highest proof release in Old No. 7 history.
Oh and get this – – a rep for Jack Daniel’s said the original Coy Hill release proof was so high that the vapors could literally push the cork out.
That is why they had to make a newly designed cork that should solve that problem, but it’s suggested that you keep the bottle upright at all times, aside from pouring, just to be safe.
Now, normal Jack Daniel’s bottles their booze with no less than 80 proof. That is 40% ABV (Alcohol BY Volume).
But, this new limited-edition batch is a whole nother monster altogether.
According to Yahoo, this special whiskey was batched together at five different proof points.
They made a batch at 143.6 proof, one at 147.3 proof, another at 149.8 proof, then at 153.2 proof, and finally — the biggest monster of them all — 155.1 proof!!
I’m going to go ahead and guess that this special Tennessee whiskey is akin to rocket fuel. Ha!
Last fall, you may have come across the Jack Daniel’s Small Batch Special Release Coy Hill High Proof. It was released as a single high proof whiskey, and people LOVED it.
It could not compare, however, to this NEW limited-edition Jack Daniel’s whiskey.
This new batch had approximately 55 barrels that were “deemed unsuitable for single barrel release.” Thus, we get a special hella high proof whiskey this time around.
If you are a whiskey snob, like my husband, you will understand this next quote. Me, not so much.
The mashbill is the same Jack Daniel’s recipe as Old No. 7: 80 percent corn, 12 percent malted barley and 8 percent rye.

It will be available for purchase throughout Tennessee. You can also get it at the distillery’s shop for $55.
It might just be time to plan a road trip to Tennessee!!
