I grew up listening to real Rock n’ Roll! It set my music standards very high! The pioneers of Rock n’ Roll still can not be touched today. I was super sad to read that one of those legends has passed.

Little Richard passed away this morning. He was 87 years old and lived an amazing life. The news was confirmed to confirmed to Rolling Stone by Richard’s son Danny Penniman.

The cause of death has not yet been released, but I honestly hope that he died peacefully of natural causes. I am sure we will know more about that soon.

Little Richard was a force! He was talented, he was loud, he was flamboyant to just the right degree. He was the inspiration for many musicians in Rock n’ Roll.

Starting back in 1956 with “Tutti Frutti” and followed by hit after hit! Songs like “Good Golly Miss Molly”, “Long Tall Sally”, “Rip It Up” were embedded in me from a young age.

The heavy pounding piano has been a love of mine forever because of people like him. He even inspired one of my favorites, Elton John.

I heard Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis, and that was it. I didn’t ever want to be anything else. I’m more of a Little Richard stylist than a Jerry Lee Lewis, I think. Jerry Lee is a very intricate piano player and very skillful, but Little Richard is more of a pounder.

Even Prince! I mean you would have to be blind and deaf not to see that! Prince just so happens to be a huge favorite of mine as well!

Prince is the Little Richard of his generation. I was wearing purple before you was wearing it!

Richard told Joan Rivers in 1989

His music has been covered by many famous artists! People like the Kinks, the Everly Brothers, Elvis Costello, and Creedence Clearwater Revival.
