Talk about a fighter! This little puppy is named Skipper and she is truly a miracle!
It’s believed that Skipper is the first puppy with six legs to survive birth. Not only did she survive, she is thriving!
The unique puppy is an Aussie and Collie mix. Her uniqueness doesn’t stop with just six legs, no… this girl is full of surprises!
She has six legs, two tails, 2 pelvic regions, 2 lower urinary tracts, 2 reproductive systems, and more! She does only have one sweet face and head and one chest cavity.
She was born at Neel Veterinary Hospital which is located in Oklahoma City, OK.
They say that her condition is a type of a few congenital conjoining disorders. The disorders are called monocephalus dipygus and monocephalus rachipagus dibrachius tetrapus.
Basically what they think happened is that while in utero, two embryos didn’t separate.
They say her organs are in great shape! She does have bowel movements which means things are working properly.
Because of her condition, she was rejected by her mother, which is pretty typical. However, she is being bottle-fed so that her needs are being met.
All of her legs move and respond to stimulus just like a normal puppy. “We will continue to research her conditions, monitor her development during rechecks and help keep Skipper pain-free and comfortable for the rest of life.Neel vets wrote
Skipper already has her own home and family! She even has dog siblings looking out for her already!
