Can We Please Talk About The Snakes in Cobra Kai?
If you haven’t watched Cobra Kai Season 3 yet, click away! There will be spoilers!!
K – final warning!!
So, if you’re reading this I am sure by now you’ve watched Season 3 of Cobra Kai on Netflix and the season was really good!
However, there is one thing that bothered me – the snakes.
Can We Please Talk About The Snakes in Cobra Kai? Because seriously, that drove me crazy!!
So, in Season 3 Episode 10, we see a flashback of John Kreese where he has to battle his commanding officer over a large pit of SNAKES.
It looks horrifying… or does it?
Now, I am not snake expert and neither is my husband but as soon as the camera panned out showing the image above my husband looked at me and said, “None of those snakes are poisonous. They are pythons and boas”.
And that is my problem. Like, with the budget Netflix has, could they not CGI in some super poisonous snakes?
Or ya know, make some giant buggers that would actually eat people?
Sure, a pit full of snakes is quite terrifying for anyone but I feel like this could have been a much scarier scene with actual poisonous snakes.
Oh, and don’t get me started on the snake the kids stole from the Zoo.
It’s a snake you could have found in your garden or at your local pet store.
Sure, it’s so small to complain about but it’s the little details that people notice the most and I think if you are going to try to scare people with snakes and kill off a character using snakes, do it right and make them poisonous and actually dangerous ha!
True. None of the snakes were poisonous. Yet, picture being dropped into a pit with a singular boa much less a “Kai” of them.
Nam does have cobras, it would have made more sense to do some AI and put cobras in it but, as actors, I think they’d rather have a “Kai” of boas/pythons.
I think the audience is to suspend disbelief and envision cobras (imagine dragons?) and it’s that experience which led to the cobra fetishism.
They couldn’t CGI a poisonous snake because snakes aren’t poisonous, they’re venomous. With the exception of the Tiger Keelback snake that is both venomous and poisonous.
