This Dad Taught His Blind, Autistic Son How To Switch Gears While They Drive!
When we have a child who has limitations, it’s easy for the world to tell us what they can’t do. Especially if their limitations set them apart from the ‘norm’. Omar Chavez is one dad who isn’t going to let limitations keep his son, Spenny, from doing those things he loves the most. See, Spenny is blind and autistic. He doesn’t live the same life a lot of kids his age would live, but he’s happy and the things he loves, he loves with all his heart. One of those thing? Going fast in the family’s Subaru. Spenny LOVES going fast. And Omar loves to make that happen for him. Something Omar realized his son would never be able to do is go fast on his own, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t teach him how to be a part of the process. So Omar taught Spenny how to shift gears while they drive. And Spenny? Well, it’s pretty safe to say this is his new absolute favorite thing. Take a look!
The absolute joy on both of their faces is impossible to overlook. Father and son couldn’t be more excited about this new adventure they’re sharing with each other, and I, for one, can’t wait to see what Spenny is going to tackle next! Way to be a rock star dad, Omar!
