Sad news!! News just broke that Tina Turner has died.
News broke on the Tina Turner Facebook Page earlier today.
In case you didn’t know who she was, Tina Turner is one of rock and soul music’s greatest icons.
Her music and talent led the way for divas like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Amy Winehouse, Jazmine Sullivan and Annie Lennox.
She’s renowned for her powerful, raspy voice and her energetic stage performances. Some of her most popular songs include:
“What’s Love Got to Do with It” – This song is perhaps Turner’s biggest hit. It reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984 and won three Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year.
“Proud Mary” – Originally by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Turner’s version with her then-husband Ike became a hit in 1971 and won a Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
“River Deep – Mountain High” – This song, produced by Phil Spector in his signature Wall of Sound style, is considered one of the best songs of all time, although it initially had more success in the UK than the US.
“Private Dancer” – The title track from her hugely successful 1984 comeback album.
“The Best” – Released in 1989, this song became one of Turner’s most popular songs, often used in commercials and sports broadcasts.
“Nutbush City Limits” – A semi-autobiographical song that has become one of her most enduring hits.
“Better Be Good to Me” – This song won Turner a Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.
In a statement released Wednesday, her representative announced:
“Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”
The news was also posted on Facebook saying:
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.
What did Tina Turner Die From?
According to reports, she had been ill for years after being diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and having a kidney transplant in 2017. Ultimately leading to her death.
The world lost an icon today and she will forever live on through her music! RIP!
