Will Smith has officially made a public apology surrounding the events that happened last night at the Oscars.

Now, if you didn’t watch The Oscars, let me bring you up to speed…

Last night Chris Rock was presenting an award for documentary feature and made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith (Will Smith’s wife) being in “G.I. Jane” because of her shaved head.

That is when just moments later, Will Smith walks up on stage and smacks Chris Rock across the face.

Will then walks back down to his sit and says:

“Keep my wife’s name out of your f-ing mouth!”

Literally everyone has been talking about this event ALL DAY.

For starters, people are shocked at what happened.

People are then trying to argue and decide, who exactly was in the right here? Who was in the wrong?

And honestly, I think we can say they both were in the wrong.

Whether Chris knew Jada has a medical condition that makes her bald (alopecia) or not, making jokes about being bald is so not cool.

But then Will’s act of violence on national tv nonetheless, wasn’t cool either.

And now, Will has issued a public apology for the world to see.

Will Smith posted on Facebook saying:

Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.

He then continued:

I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.I am a work in progress.Sincerely,Will

I am so glad he publicly addressed this situation and I surely hope this is a learning experience for both Will and Chris.

From reports, sounds like they are back to being friends and have reconciled after last night’s events.
