Do not snack and multitask – Think of the last time you sat in front of the TV with a snack. The snack was probably gone sooner than you expected or you probably didn’t expect it to be gone at all, right? Well, when your brain tries to multitask and one of those tasks include eating, you are bound to eat more than expected. So snack only when your brain can focus only at the task at hand (literally).

Pack a snack where ever you go – Running errands? Visiting a relative? Heading grocery shopping? Make sure a healthy snack is packed and conveniently located where you are. Chances are, if you get hungry while you go on about your day, you will make it an excuse to grab a snack or full meal that is also an unhealthy one. It can also lead to spending more money than you anticipated.

Put that nondominant hand to work – Eating with your nondominant hand is probably much harder than usual and that is just the point. According to the study published in the journal Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, people who snacked using their nondominant hands reduced about 30% of their total intake, compared with those using their dominant hands. Crazy cool, right?

A snack is a snack and just that – People often mistaken snacks for meals. Snacks are intended to curb hunger in between meals which means they are also might lighter meals. They can also help keep your metabolism going throughout the day. They are just snacks. So keep that in mind when it comes to portioning your snacks.

Go all nuts about it – Nuts are a huge asset when it comes to snacking. They are packed full of protein and nutrients to help you power through the day. They also offer a sweet and salty taste which can help calm cravings. Chose small servings of nuts as they can be high in calories.
