Joaquin Phoenix, Star of ‘The Joker’ Was Detained During A Protest
I love seeing celebrities use their power, money and status to do good in the world and that is what happened here.
News broke that Joaquin Phoenix, Star of ‘The Joker‘ Was Detained During A Protest. Along with him, Martin Sheen (Charlie Sheen’s Dad) was detained as well.
Why?
Because according to TMZ, they were part of a Jane Fonda’s (Grace and Frankie star) friendly protest yesterday in Washington where they are trying to get the government to do something about climate change.
Seems, innocent enough, right?
From the video footage you can see a large crowd led by Jane Fonda and many of the celebrities mentioned protesting on the steps of the nation’s capital in Washington, D.C.
Joaquin Phoenix is seen speaking on the topic telling others how the meat and dairy industry is the “third leading causes of climant change”.
He then goes on to ask others to live a Vegan lifestyle like he does to help the climate.
From there, the video is turned over to Jane Fonda as she talks about how Martin Sheen has been arrested over 70 times for participating in protests just like this one.
In the end, it looks as if the police are talking to Joaquin and Martin Sheen and escorts them away. Reports say they were detained and not arrested but were warned by police that if they did not leave, they would be arrested.
