Bad news for all you people who like your morning dose of that sweet Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and a donut.

The company announced that they are permanently closing 8% of their stores Nationwide, and that amounts to just about 800 closings.

We already knew the company was closing roughly 450 locations, mostly in Speedway gas stations, but now they have announced the closure of even more locations.

The company announced the changes in its second quarter earnings, released Thursday. Dunkin’ described the closures as “real estate portfolio rationalization” and said the affected locations are in “low-volume sales locations” that only represent 2% of its US sales as of 2019.

Dunkin’ Donuts is not the first restaurant that has announced closures this year. Chuck E. Cheese’s, Sweet Tomatoes, and McDonald’s have all announced that they will be closing some, if not ALL, of their locations nationwide.

We can partly thank the coronavirus for these closings, as more and more stores and restaurants are seeing a decline in foot traffic to all their locations.

Drive-thru locations still seem to be doing well, but it is all the locations without a drive-thru that are in danger of closing up shop.

We haven’t yet heard exactly WHICH locations are closing, but we will keep you updated as soon as we hear.
