Krispy Kreme Is Raising Prices In September. Here’s What We Know.
Krispy Kreme is just one more company to hop on the inflation bandwagon, and quite frankly, it sucks.
I mean, I totally get it. They have to keep up with the prices they are being charged by distributors.
But, it seems like we can’t catch a break on this endless loop of the inflation cycle and supply shortages.
Gas prices have jumped to astronomical levels. Lumber prices, which affects a whole plethora of things (like toilet paper), have skyrocketed. Even the costs of postage stamps have seen an increase.
Disney has even gotten in on the price increase bandwagon by CHARGING for FastPasses *Angry Face Emoji*.
And now doughnuts — DOUGHNUTS!! — are being affected. Thanks Mr. Inflation!
Mike Tattersfield, Krispy Kreme CEO, promises that these price increases won’t be outrageous.
We are really disciplined on pricing. We are a dozens business, so we do always pay attention to an accessible price point. So when you think about the pricing that will happen on a dozen you won’t really see it that much.
Mike Tattersfield, Krispy Kreme CEO
Supposedly, the cost for an individual donut will still be “about a dollar” — whatever that means.
What will this mean for the REST of the inventory sold out of Krispy Kreme locations? Coffee? Milk? Chillers?
Well, the bottom line is, we don’t yet know.
We are just going to have to wait until September rolls around to see.
I’m hoping we will just see nickel and dime price hikes, but can we really be that luck?
Only time will tell, my friend.
