5 Reasons To NOT Vaccinate Your Kids
People shouldn’t have to vaccinate their kids. In fact, parents absolutely know what’s best for their kids in every situation, which is why you’ve never heard of a mom calling a doctor at two AM because her child has a fever.

Moms automatically know exactly what to do. They know better than anyone what their child needs or doesn’t need.
That’s why the vaccination debate is so ridiculous to me…because moms inherently know more than everyone. Which brings me to this… 5 Reasons To NOT Vaccinate Your Kids.

When a woman conceives a child, the entirety of human knowledge is written into her essence and as that child is brought forth unto this world, that knowledge flowers in her mommy brain and every decision she makes for her child is absolutely the right, and only right decision.
So who are we to judge those moms that choose NOT to vaccinate THEIR kids?

Before you get your mom panties in a knot, hear me out…
5 Reasons To NOT Vaccinate Your Kids
1. You don’t like them, anyway.
I get it. Some kids are just born a little more awful than others. So if your plan is to not vaccinate your kid in hopes that they’ll catch some horrible virus that’ll off them so you can start over, sure. That makes total sense.
It’s evil, and disgusting, and I hope you get a million fire ant bites, but hey, the good news is that’s less likely to happen to you than your child catching something deadly because you’re an inherent dumb-dumb.

2. You’re more scared of big scientific sounding words than you are of viruses that have killed millions upon millions of people.
I get it! Vaccines have a lot of big, scary words. And, some of the ingredients in vaccines have been linked to carcinogenic risks and I bet even a very eensy teensy tiny portion of the population might be allergic to some of the ingredients and they might have a bad reaction.
Know what? That’s why the doctor keeps you at the office for 15 minutes after your child receives a vaccine. That way if they react, the doctor can fix it. Nifty set up, huh?

As for the scary words, know what other scientific word kills people? Dihydrogen monoxide. And yet you still put it into your body every single day. So put away your dictionary, and stop freaking out over words that you maybe don’t understand.

3. You believe all internet memes are true.
“Gandhi was against vaccines. A mother flipping meme told me so.” Yeah, I’ve seen that meme. And I’ve looked it up. And you know what he compared vaccines to? Eating beef.
Vaccines are as bad as eating beef because cows and all life is sacred. So here’s where that comes from: the small pox vaccine was derived from cows infected with cow pox. Which means that every person who received a small pox vaccine was being given a small amount of cow.

I can definitely understand why a man whose religion holds cows as sacred would be against being injected with one. But unless you, too, are a fruitarian (which he was), perhaps you should put down your Big Mac and go get your kids their freakin’ vaccines.
4. You’d rather your children build their immunity to things like polio and measles naturally…just like you did.
Oh, wait. You didn’t have polio did you. Know why? ‘CAUSE YOUR PARENTS GOT YOU VACCINATED!
5. You know more about vaccines from that one article you read online than your pediatrician knows after eight years of higher education and thousands of hours of study.
I’ll just let the people in this video address that one…
Look, I understand that I don’t live in your house, I’ve not experienced your life and I certainly can’t judge you for your parenting choices. But I’m going to anyway.
Not getting your children vaccinated is really stupid. Like, it’s really stupid.

It makes me furious and makes the blood in my veins boil with hatred toward you for putting your children in such a vulnerable and dangerous position. And if it just affected YOUR children, I might even be able to hold back my vitriol; but, it doesn’t.
Your infected child can infect a child who is too young to be vaccinated. Your child can infect a child who is fighting cancer, or whose immunity has been compromised by something else entirely out of their control.

YOUR child can act as a walking time bomb and spread illnesses that haven’t been around for years all because the idea of giving them a medically sound shot scares you.
Your child deserves better. Get your kids vaccinated. Don’t be that parent that we all hate.
Jamie’s Note: To those parents who can’t vaccinate because their child is immunocompromised, or allergic, etc. this obviously isn’t directed at you. In fact, you should be the most pissed off at the people who don’t vaccinate their perfectly healthy children– because that is how your children stay safe!

Your piece on ‘5 Reasons NOT to vaccinate your kids’ is insensitive and unfair. I found it offensive even though I didn’t have a child affected by vaccines (though I’ll always wonder if my child’s ADHD might have something to do with vaccines, something I’ll never know). I do believe there are reasons to not vaccinate, or at least not as vigorously as is recommended. But the list she presented is mocking and condescending at best, and hurtful to parents who have lost children as a result of vaccinations.
Reason #1 is just downright rude. Many people do not vaccinate their children BECAUSE they love them and don’t want undue harm to come to them. And one may not necessarily know if their child is immunocompromised until it is too late.
You sound quite uppity and holier than thou with your Reason #2. Scared of big words? Again, you’re being condescending and rude. I doubt there are many if any who don’t vaccinate because of big words. That’s just downright stupid.
#3 Nope, all internet memes aren’t true. It’s sometimes hard to tell, but I do you really think people don’t vaccinate because of an internet meme? (again see #1 & 2)
#4 Some vaccines may still be necessary, but please don’t lump polio and measles together as if they are practically the same.
#5 To understand a bit more about the medical profession and how it works at least in part, you should get off your high horse and do a little bit of research and learn how that whole system is very money driven. Doctors, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, and our federal government all feed on each other and help keep the circle going. It might surprise you that nutrition affects our bodies in a major way, and doctors spend very little time learning anything about nutrition. Most doctors want to help people and really thing they are doing the best for patents. They don’t mean to perpetuate this system involving big pharma, insurance companies, etc., but that’s what they’re taught. They assume everything they’re taught is true…oh if only that were really the case. The FDA approves drugs that are not safe. They turn a blind eye to things that are proven harmful because it’s in their best interest to do so. They are looking out for the medical profession, not patients. it’s a great big circle and each part helps perpetuate another part. I believe that the teachers who are teaching falsehoods don’t even realize they’re helping perpetuate the lies.
Again, I really don’t think doctors knowingly do it to harm their patients, but that’s what they’ve been taught, and they believe it’s true even if it’s not. Thank goodness for scores of people who are doing research on nutrition, affects of vaccines, etc. We don’t have to continue to have the wool pulled over our eyes by those who are in it for profit. Thank goodness for thinking parents who refuse to be sheeple, and follow blindly. Thank goodness that there are parents who won’t sit idly by and take your condescending tirade and be bullied into doing something they know isn’t the right thing to do.
The very end of your article should have everyone scratching their heads. You say, “…people who don’t vaccinate their perfectly healthy children– because that is how your children stay safe!” I thought the vaccine helped people avoid the disease, so if your child is vaccinated, your child should be ‘safe’ regardless of whether my child is vaccinated or not. If you’re worried your child will catch something in spite of having the vaccine, then the vaccine must not be protecting your child after all.
Your article was definitely snarky as well as insensitive to those who have had negative results from vaccines. (ranging from a disability, even up to the death of a child) I was mistaken when I thought I was going to read a thoughtful article with facts and research, and I’m sorry I wasted my time just to read your rude and condescending opinion as you shoved it down our throats.
You’ve got quite a bully pulpit and have done quite a job of shaming parents who love their children, but I say kudos to those parents who’ve done their research and refuse to do something which may be harmful to their children.
Absolutely amazing response! I love a person who can think themselves. I felt the exact same way about being duped into reading this article. Now although I agree with you wholeheartedly that it’s a parent’s rights to do what they feel is safe and right for their child what I don’t agree with is some brainwashed woman’s points that everyone who doesn’t vaccinate their children is somehow a terrible stupid misguided parent like she’s the one in the labs making all the vaccines and just knows they’re nothing but good for you even though there’s evidence that says otherwise. There are also no long term studies done proving if any vaccines are safe or not. We don’t know what kind of long term ramifications there are associated with them. These are the kinds of people you don’t waste your time on. Your response was spot on especially the part on the entire healthcare system in this country. It is more corrupt than the industrial military complex(DoD) and the gas & oil industry combined. There is not one thing about our government/media that can be trusted anymore and the one’s who try to argue for it are the sheep. Stay strong, stay grounded, and always keep a mind of your own!
no dude. ADHD came from genetics. I know this very well on a personal level :-). My family refers to talking to me when unstimulated as “choose your own ending conversations”
There is no valid reason beyond allergy to NOT vaccinate your child, and this article was accurate and yes, it called you all out for being fucking morons. Because you are.
yup
Hurling insults to those who can back up their opinions only allows your ignorance on the
Topic to show through.
Love this article. Love this response.
Satan…. LMAO…Me thinks you are the F@#$ing moron here.
I wonder if any of these women travel to other countries with unvaccinated children?. Now that is a ticking time bomb waiting to happen. This is how it spreads. You dont vaccinate then travel with your kids, where these diseases are prominent, and they get infected and come back to the states. Or is it, we cant travel there because they aren’t vaccinated. Do they not travel to other counties?
Exactly how I feel about vaccines big pharma doctors etc. Thank you for voicing it so well. I as a loving mother who has 2 beautiful children I adore was also duped into reading this woman’s arrogant narrow minded bully tactic article. What a waste of time
well said.
Oh fuck off!!!
Hahahahahahah!!! Ohhh Mary. Mary Mary Mary..thank u for the laugh. I needed that. I love seeing people that THINK they know what they are talking about and feel the need to sarcastically belittle other people, that in fact actually KNOW their shit who are not brainwashed and submissive to all information doctors, media, government feeds them. you are wrong. Your are ignorant. And you are a bully. The last sentence you wrote, you know..That last little jab you threw in..ouch! That just made you look like one of those parents we all hate that have no life, the ones that talk shit behind people’s back all day Cuz they ain’t got shit else to do. The mindless parents who are irresponsible themselves for not doing their research and thinking for themselves and instead following what other parents do cuz god forbid u question anything and just do what your told is safe and responsible by these money hungry monsters that don’t give a fuck tart about you or your babies. That’s why they r sticking formaldehyde in you babies veins? Oh but it’s to kill the flu strains that they also just put into your child. Wtf? How does that make sense? Aluminum salts? That can’t be good for my child’s growing brain. Not at all. but I guess U knew all that and r okay with it cuz the tv tells u it’s okay. So u follow their orders with no questions. And feel good about being a dick to people that in fact ARE BEING RESPONSIBLE and caring for their child’s well being fully and completely. And that actually know what the fuck is going on cuz they r well informed. Lookin dumb Mary
Yes, how dare we know actual facts and knowledge rather than the bullshit put out by woo woo natural health morons and a playboy bunny (a failed one at that).
is that all you got? bring it on….
I like that sailor jargon you use to get your point across. assume we all watch tv to get educated is another worthless comment. probably voted for trump because he said the media is worthless and against us. None of your comments can be traced to anything worth reading. what sources can you provide, if you know how to credit them, to back up the senseless comments you propose?
Get over yourself Jamie.
I readily admit that I am from the church of I don’t have a clue. I am a vaccinated 53-year-old male whose daughter has decided not to vaccinate her children. I have spent the last year researching and I do find data that gives me pause.
There is one piece of this research that I cannot figure out. The pro vaccination movement say that an unvaccinated child causes harm to the entire population. If that is the case and most adults have not received boosters, then why aren’t we witnessing outbreaks left and right. How can someone say that unvaccinated children hurt heard immunity when the majority of adults are not immune to these diseases because the vaccine they took as a child has worn off. If someone can help me with this, I would truly appreciate it. It does bother me that my granddaughter has not been vaccinated for some major diseases, but I am questioning more of the recent vaccines that have hit the market.
There is a lot that can be said here, but one of your core concerns seems to revolve around the assumption that the quality of the immune system is the same at birth as it is as an adult. It seems like you’ve tried to research this, but I’ll just give a quick rundown of how the immune system works for the sake of thoroughness.
The body makes cells that are specialized at recognizing foreign invaders, and then mounts a defense against them. This is done many ways, such as lymphocytes that can turn into different types of cells for different tasks, but for example’s sake, take antibodies. These are proteins that are produced by the immune system that float around in the blood looking for antigens/foreign invaders. They latch onto them so other cells recognize them and move in to do clean up. Antibodies are both created to recognize “non-self cells” and from previously recognized invaders by the body, to watch for their return.
In utero, the fetus gets all its initial antibodies from its mother. It is still developing its organs and immune system and can’t effectively make them itself, so these serve to help protect it after birth. And even these are not a guaranteed failsafe, as they work as an alarm system for the existing immune system to mount a defense. Newborns start with out with these maternal antibodies, but these die over time and leave them more vulnerable, especially since their immune system is still developing. They also have organs and bones that are still developing and vulnerable to certain pathogens, through childhood. For example, growing body parts have rapidly dividing cells, which some viruses specifically target (like Parvo in the intestines of puppies).
So, vaccines can act as a small introduction to an enemy that the new body is able to say, “Okay, we need to make these defenses in case we see this again.” Or, if an unvaccinated child never contracts one of the more harmful diseases and makes it to adulthood, they have a stronger immune system and are less vulnerable to some pathogens, like the ones that target rapidly dividing cells. There just happen to be more pathogens that more easily infect the very young, immunocompromised, and the very old. This is not always the case, as the way a pathogen works can vary, such as the 1918 influenza epidemic that mainly killed previously healthy young adults. This virus presumably worked by super-stimulating the stronger immune system of healthy people, and the subsequent response caused much more damaging inflammation (like an auto-immune disease).
Immunology is very complicated, and very confusing, and thus very frustrating. And I believe parents want to protect their children, and it’s difficult to trust other people telling you what is right or wrong. So it’s important to know how to recognize solid research and learn from it yourself, or find a doctor you can trust. This is barely scratching the surface. And there can be a lot of noise on either side. I hope this helps clarify some of that.
To clarify further, vaccines are essentially trying to do the job the mother’s antibodies were already doing, but for longer, since these antibodies frequently die off well before the child is fully able to mount an appropriate immune response, and for diseases the mother may not have had antibodies for already.
Check the CDC website. There are outbreaks in pockets all over the country of different viruses. You don’t hear everything on the news. I work at a large children’s hospital and can tell you from experience how horrifying it is to watch a baby cough itself to death. All because it got pertussis from a grandparent that didn’t get their booster shot or an unvaccinated older sibling. I could go on and on. The honest truth is in 14 years of ICU work, I have witnessed one bad vaccine reaction in a child who was not a healthy child at baseline. They spent several tough days in the ICU. I have witnessed many deaths and ICU stays that could have been prevented through vaccinations. Vaccinations save the lives of those who are vaccinated and those who can not be vaccinated. Rant done.
Clearly not paying attention. 1 in 45 children have autism. Every day children come back to the doctor after being normal the day before the vaccine and right after they receive a vaccine they are having horrendous side effect. The inserts on vaccines list lots of major side effects and the Vaccine Injury Court has paid over 2.5 billion in claims. Not trying to argue a greater good here but to say there is no side effects from vaccines and they are perfectly safe is laughable. There is a risk with every medication and parents should have a right to weigh those options.
Autism. Is. Not. Caused. By. Vaccines.
Autism is the result of the MMR vaccine.
oh yes, the CDC… it’s not corrupt at all… LOL. It is practically owned by paid for by Big Pharma…. what a joke.
Good for you for remaining humble while allowing your daughter to come to her own decisions. Just remember that one very popular non sequitur argument that will be used in pushing her toward vaccination is that no direct proof of causation has been established between vaccines and autism. It will be argued that that is reason enough to go ahead and vaccinate but again that argument is a meaningless non sequitur.
Instead, listen to your daughter when she evaluates the situation for a clear and present danger. Unlike this hysterical author, who thinks being bitten by fire ants is less common than a modern day American kid dying from a vaccine preventable disease, you daughter is no fool. The odds of your grandkids coming down with say, measles, and then also dying is astronomical. The media hyped outbreaks of measles we keep hearing about translates to infection rates of only about 1 in a million while it is 99.7% of measles infected patients do not die… and those statistics include the immune compromised as well.
You wouldn’t know it from watching the TV news, but nobody in America has gotten sick from measles and also died from complications in over 20 years. This is not to say the vaccine hasn’t been a success but rather that the current situation isn’t as dire as a lot of people make it out to be. Thus the benefits from vaccines might not be as great as they are being sold as being simply because the risk from wild infection is presently virtually nonexistent and even so, any extremely unlikely illness from measles the grandkids might ever by rare chance contract is probably going be benign anyway. 99.7% not fatal and in fact most all otherwise healthy people don’t even need any kind of significant medical intervention.
From that perspective, being told about a shot against such a tiny risk shouldn’t seem so impressive. Being told that the same shot also probably won’t cause any of it’s listed possible side effects might not be so reassuring.
Thanks for rendering the stereotype of Super-Judgey-Mom alive and well.
Lol, this might be the most ridiculous, ignorant “blog” I’ve ever read. I AM that parent who has an immunocompromised child and cannot be vaccinated. He is the youngest of our 4 children. We were lucky enough to have a doctor at the children’s hospital who urged us to study, study, study vaccines as the course for our youngest was changing from our other three children. He wanted our decision to be a well thought out decision and know the risks involved with him NOT being vaccinated and the others being vaccinated. We started with the ingredients and their individual side effects and the effects they have on the immune and nervous system. For any parent who HAS NOT done this and is completely ignorant of what is being put into your child, shame on you. You do not get a voice or an opinion on those who do not vaccinate and you absolutely do not get a voice to bait and parade my immunocompromised child as a reason TO vaccinate. Good starting point to read about immunocompromised people and vaccines, John Hopkins. Recently vaccinated people are far more dangerous to my unvaccinated child than any unvaccinated person. As a matter of fact, all immunocompromised individuals are highly recommended to stay away from those recently vaccinated. We wonder why the flu and whooping cough get worse every year…..SHEDDING. Yet, the pharmaceuticals who own all major networks have fooled you into asking people to pump themselves full of live viruses before visiting your newborn in the hospital. SMH, then this lady feeds your know-it-all beliefs that vaccines saved the world. Down right ignorant. I’m angry that I once was that parent, thankful for doctors who put us on the right path and mamas who chose to dedicate themselves to researching and studying medical science to understand what is being put into their children. The CDC has a comprehensive list of every ingredient in each vaccine. It is too easy to research each ingredient, there is no excuse for not knowing their specific function and side effect on your child’s body, especially the immune and nervous system. This writer does not speak for my immunocompromised child.
Very well said…I totally agree. When people have to use sarcastism, ridicule, name-calling, belittling, etc, it doesn’t say much for their “higher education”, and I definitely see red flags.
TOP FIVE REASONS YOU SHOULD VACCINATE YOUR KIDS
People should definitely be forced to vaccinate their kids indiscriminately, starting a few hours from birth. In fact, parents shouldn’t be trusted to make ANY decision regarding the well-being of their child, as clearly a person who sees their child for 15 minutes a few times a year knows infinitely more about what is best for that child than their own parent. And since vaccines are one-size-fits-all, no need to take into account the child’s genetic make-up, size, overall immune health, or any other individual factor… and since a doctor or scientist has NEVER been wrong about ANYTHING (well, except the ones who question vaccine safety, of course), here are the top 5 reasons you should blindly vaccinate your child according to the CDC schedule:
1. You don’t like them, anyway.
I get it. Your kid is judgmental, sarcastic, and completely closed-minded… I’m not sure where on earth your child might have inherited those traits, but nonetheless, you find them to be an inconvenience. So if your plan is to vaccinate your child in hopes that you can help him/her avoid the simple, typically mild diseases of childhood such as measles and chickenpox in exchange for a potential lifetime of autoimmune or neurological disorders, or even death that you can guiltlessly blame on SIDS, then sure. Go ahead. It’s evil and disgusting and you are an inherent dumb-dumb for your willingness to impose such risks on your child so you can avoid having to take a week off work to nurse your child with a slight fever and swollen glands, but hey. Science.
2. You’re more afraid of itchy rashes and archaic diseases than silly old words.
Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words go in one ear and out the other! Heavy metal toxicity, encephalitis, auto-immune disorder, blood-brain barrier, aborted fetal tissue, formaldehyde, DNA alteration… you’re not going to let any of those big, scary words intimidate you! And while we’re at it, let’s not get all worked up about numbers, either. Such as 1,200, which is how many mcg of aluminum a baby can be exposed to in one well-baby visit…. a mere 40x the suggested safe limits established by the FDA. Or 500%, which is how much mercury a child can be exposed to in one flu shot beyond the EPA’s recommended exposure limits. Good thing you’re playing it safe here… better to take your chances with a heavy metal and virus injectable cocktail than to risk a week of diarrhea… I mean, really, WHO has time for that!?!? After all, should your child end up being one of the reasons that they created the Vaccine Adverse Event Report System, your doctor will keep him around for a whole 15 minutes after his shots, and obviously any damage that could be done by injecting neurotoxic ingredients cumulatively over the course of many months or years would physically manifest within 15 minutes of injection, so… no worries! You’re good! And if a reaction DOES occur and your doctor actually believes you and you are one of the 1-10% of vaccine injuries that the CDC admits actually gets reported, you’ve got the good old Vaccine Court on standby to hear your case. No judge or jury, and the vaccine manufacturer won’t be held responsible because that’s illegal, but rest assured that one official will give a very unbiased look into your situation and possibly reward you out of a fund that you paid for with a tax on your vaccines.
3. You believe everything from the mainstream media is true.
Nevermind the fact that 95% of media is owned by 7 large corporations, and that many of those corporations are owned by big pharma stakeholders, and that the pharmaceutical industry is one of the major sources of ad revenue for media… the major news corporations are your only safe bet for getting any real information. And in between the latest reports on the Kardashians and that black-and-blue dress (or is it white and gold??), I’m sure they manage to squeeze in some of the most current propaganda, I mean research, on vaccine safety and efficacy.
4. You’d rather your children have no immune system at all than take a chance at natural immunity.
Oh, wait. You didn’t grow up with autism, did you? You managed to avoid life-threatening food allergies, as well? You didn’t have severe ADHD, psychological disorders, diabetes, seizures, Guillain-Barre syndrome or a variety of other chronic illnesses? You actually got chicken pox and you’re still alive?? No thanks to your parents, who only subjected you to a mere 6 or 7 shots for life-threatening diseases as a child… they couldn’t even begin to compete with the 49 doses your child will receive by the time she starts Kindergarten… plus the 20 additional doses she’ll receive before she reaches adulthood! So bring on the ear infections, asthma, and chronic childhood disease that results from a continually compromised immune system… we can just throw some antibiotics at it and call it good! And hey, your kid might get mumps anyway since Merck falsified tests results using rabbit serum for their MMR shot to appear more effective than it actually is… but surely it won’t be “as bad” as it could have been had your child been walking around with an in-tact immune system!
5. You know more about vaccines from reading literally nothing than any person who questions vaccine safety after spending thousands of hours reading books, examining studies, and listening to interviews with real doctors, researchers, and yes, even (gasp) parents.
I mean, why would you need to do any actual research when your doctor and the government have already told you that vaccines are safe and necessary? Never mind the fact that medical schools and their staff receive funding, grants, and cash payments from the pharmaceutical industry, big pharma regularly hires companies to “ghost write” scholarly articles about the benefits of their products for medical journals, and that the CDC holds over 20 profit-making patents on various vaccines. Let’s also ignore the fact that doctors have gone on the record about how they “learn very little about vaccines… we don’t review the research ourselves. We never learn what goes into making vaccines or how their safety is studied.” Let’s definitely not take the word of Dr. Larry Pavlesky, who realized upon doing his own research that “It didn’t appear that the scientific studies we were given were actually appropriately designed to prove and test the safety and efficacy… there were ingredients in there that were not properly tested, the comparison groups were not appropriately set up, and the conclusions made about vaccine safety and efficacy just did not fit the scientific standards I was trained to uphold in my medical school training.” Speaking of studies, surely your doctor has informed you that there are 128+ peer-reviewed research articles linking autism and vaccines? And she has probably mentioned that there have been NO studies to verify the safety of giving multiple vaccines simultaneously, even though a child can receive up to 9 in one well-child visit. And I’m sure she was completely forthcoming about the fact that she can potentially receive hefty bonuses from insurance companies for having fully vaccinated patients? Rest assured that even if your doctor did question vaccine safety, he would keep his mouth shut for fear of public ridicule or even loss of his medical license… after all, Merck (remember the MMR manufacturers?) emails surfaced in trial which contained lists of doctors- who had spoken out against their (heart-attack-causing) products- to “discredit” or “neutralize”. And aside from all that, the government and the medical industry have never led us astray before… oh, wait, except for that time that we all thought smoking was perfectly safe. Oh yeah, and when we were told that it was fat, not sugar, causing heart disease. Oh, and the food pyramid, which assured us that the largest portion of our calories should come from carbs for optimal health.
All in all, I’m so thankful I am blindly entrusting my child’s life, health, and livelihood to a system that is infallible and incorruptible, and I think that undoubtedly, indiscriminately, you should, too! After all, I’m just a commonplace parent, incapable of the critical thought or analytical skills required to make an informed decision about medical interventions for my child.
It’s a public health issue. No one wants your rugrats infecting the country with measles.
Two thumbs up!
BRAVO. VERY WELL WRITTEN AND TRUE.
Sarcasm, ridicule, ignorance, and hate. Do you truly believe you are making the world a better place in this way?
Actually, the thing is, we’ve been using medical facts and good debating practice and have already had those brushed aside. We only speak to the average intellect of those who make life choices based off of a flimsy web site and a scary video
Ok, Mary Malcolm.
You are the one that is the ridiculous one here.
I AM VACCINATED of course I’m 43 yrs young AND IT PAINS ME not to trust the vaccinations of my newborn. I DO WANT her to have vaccinations but in too many years with confusing rises in so many issues of brain and behavioral challenges pointing to vaccinations.
Scientists have actually researched each vaccine’s ingredients and found UNNECESSARY INGREDIENTS THAT FURTHER ARE DEADLY SUCH AS ALUMINIUM N FORMALDEHYDE to name 2.
So, I’m a nutshell Mary I return a summed up version of ur article to me, GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER N PULL UR HEAD OUT OF IT ARSE
agreed.
I’m sorry but I don’t agree with you article, yes its uncomfortable and unpleasant to let your child go through it, but by not doing it you do more harm than good. Put your child’s health first not Your feelings
Did you read the article with the sarcastic tone intended? The writer supports vaccinations, pretty clearly.
You didn’t even read the blog. Wow. I bet you haven’t read and studied the ingredients in vaccines either. Try doing that, that’s how you put your child’s health first.
Measles/Polio were and are rarely deadly in the United States – the AAP has even stated “90 percent of the decline in infectious disease mortality among US children occurred before 1940, when few antibiotics and vaccines were available”. This entire article is severely lacking in key points the “anti-vaxxers” make. Until you have witnessed a very serious vaccine reaction in your own child-it’s probably best to leave your hateful opinion to yourself. Please do more extensive research on the “deadly” diseases you are vaccinating your kids for- you might be surprised by what you find.
To those who do not vaccinate. Have you ever seen a child struggling to breathe because they have whooping cough? Have you ever been told that your best friend died from measles and her brother was left blind and deaf from the same illness? Have you talked to parents who lost a child to polio or who was left severely damaged? I have. My cousin died in the 80’s when his polio symptoms came back. My ex lost a full school year because he had whooping cough at age 6. And I have seen babies born with disabilities because their mother contracted measles while pregnant, and she did not even have symptoms. And I almost lost my baby sister when she scratched a chickenpox scab behind her knee and ended up spending 6 weeks in the hospital. Look up the aftereffects of typhoid, diphtheria, and tetanus. And mumps. I hope you never have to go through any of these but chances are you will if you do not protect your children. They are coming back because parents in other countries do not have vaccinations.
You don’t get Measles without symptoms. You didn’t witness your ex while having symptoms of an illness at age 6 so the others are probably hearsay or made up accounts. Vaccines actually make people sick and give you what they are supposed to prevent! Did you read the ones who contracted Measles during the outbreaks had all been vaccinated?
yep
Let me start this comment by saying I AM NOT ANTI-VACCINE…repeat…I AM NOT ANTI-VACCINE!! Because after my next comments, I’m sure all kinds of people will have something to say based on what they’ve read on the internet.
My great-nephew has a severe vaccine injury. He was developing normally, right on schedule, then he had his one year vaccines, of course many at once. He was immediately extremely ill, vomiting, uncontrollable diarrhea, and two weeks later he lost all his development. Now, from the swelling of the brain he had after his vaccines, he is severely Autistic, has painful purpura, is non-verbal, and will never lead a normal life. He is now 13. His sister was developing normally, had her first vaccines, and had the same symptoms begin; my niece, their Mom was smart with his sister and only had one vaccine, the MMR. Luckily, once she stopped vaccinating my great-niece she got back on track and is fine. She is not vaccinated. It was later discovered that my niece, her then husband, my great-nephew and my great-niece all have the MTHFR mutation. This basically makes their immune system work against the vaccines and they, for lack of a better term, turn against their body.
My purpose for sharing this information is not to say, don’t get vaccinated, it’s to say, do your research. Have your kids tested to make sure they don’t have anything that can work against the vaccines. There’s no rule or law that says you have to get ALL the vaccines in one shot, spread them out. There’s no rule or law that says you have to get them when the doctor says they do. Wait until they’re a little older.
Look…there is no perfect answer and really in a weird way you’re forced to play Russian roulette with your child. If you vaccinate on schedule, and God forbid your child has a weird gene mutation, the results can be catastrophic; if you decide to wait to get vaccinated and some kid comes to school with the measles, then your child has a dangerous childhood disease. All I say is do your research. Have your child tested for the MTHFR mutation or any other weird thing that can negatively affect vaccinations. My niece blames herself everyday that she blindly trusted her child’s healthcare provider and didn’t do more research on the topic first.
Thank you for sharing. Being an informed parent doesn’t mean going against professionals. There’s something to be said for a great doctor/parent relationship. I ask a bunch of questions and express ALL my concerns and present my research and I am fortunate my kids doctor is patient and addresses them all and sometimes changes direction. That’s okay. I know my child and he knows medicine. It’s important to have both.
well said. so sorry about your neice’s experience.
I love this article. And in the sharing. Can’t wait to see the backlash I might get! How about doing an article on littering and the sense that it makes to do! (tongue-in-cheek. Of course ) This is an issue that really steams my pipes!
From a pro-vaccine mother of 3, this article is done for people to brag about how great parents they are because they vaccinate their children. It has zero empathy or understanding and only bullies the anti-vax movement.
That doesn’t work, if anything, it only alienates those parents more.
If you get one parent, a single one, to change his/her mind with this article, let me know. As for the sarcasm goes, there are much better ones online with real humor.
Yes, we have a huge problem with the decline in vaccination rates that needs to be addressed, and I’d like the writer of this article to actually do something about it instead of just inflating her ego with shares from other bashers that also don’t understand the problem and behave in the same simplistic manner as the parents that bought the anti-vax propaganda.
It us not just the young that can get these diseases. Those who have parents that wouldn’ have their child vaccinated is also vulnerable to them.
Because i don’t understand the principles and achievements of vaccinating, i don’t vaccinate. Stupid, just stupid. Study, just study. Please?
It’s extremely stupid and sad that “educated” people do not know the basics of our body science and wish to spread fear as a part of our lives. Make yourself stronger, ur chiIdren will learn it from you only…. N they will know how to take care of themselves….
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! My kid was born without a complete immune system. We have spent the last three years undergoing medical stuff like you wouldn’t believe. After a bone marrow transplant his immune system is finally beginning to function. And he is getting caught up on immunizations. People couldn’t understand that we couldn’t go into public with him BECAUSE HE MIGHT DIE! So very thankful for a positive outcome for our family.
Mary, darling just take and educate your self. The nonsense that you write, make me laugh and make me think how you’re stupid
I have to state that not all baby boomers were vaccinated for common ailments like chicken pox, measles, rubella, whooping cough or mumps because their was not enough vaccines.
Nor did doctors or parents realize having one of these diseases could affect their child for life. I had chicken pox, aka Herpes Simplex 1. It keeps itself along the spinal column and injuries, infections or any nervous system can cause a flare of “cold sores” or shingles much more painful than a cold sore. This is also a sister disease to mononucleosis. This viral disease may lay dormant for many years nor begin to wear down your central nervous system.
For me, the signs were not paid attention to as no one had a clue, even when I got older and had multiple symptoms of Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, daily headaches that would be so severe I couldn’t function. I would love to have the jobs I had to give up as I could no longer function safely to do them.
I am disabled, on a tiny income and seldom get up to move around due to my high risk of falling. This because I had a childhood illness many felt was harmless. I have also had shingles 3 times as an adult.
I do understand if your child is immunocompromised or allergic that is a reasonable reason not to vaccinate. Any other reason is selfish and inconsiderate to your child and anyone around them.
This is why I believe children should be vaccinated against “common” childhood diseases. My ailments now are progressive and incurable.
I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve heard several times of moms wanting to get their children chicken pox so that they’re immune later.
I also had it as a child and, although not in any way at your level, got an outbreak of shingles on the eye while 38 weeks pregnant. Do not wish that on anybody. My brother got chicken pox at 15 because for some reason I didn’t pass it onto him, and almost ended up in the hospital.
These kind of stories are compelling and have much more potential to make parents think about it and consider all their options than this stupid article
This is most certainly someone working for big pharma writing this article…..”makes the blood in her veins boil with hatred toward us”….
us who do not do what the hell big pharma is injecting in our kids..!?! Us who want to know more?!?…….Basing ouselvrs on 1 article?!? That’s pretty offensive…..how about hundreds of articles…..
So let me get this straight dear author…..you completely trust big pharma to the level where you fully completely without a shred of a doubt trust this billion dollar industry who marks up drugs %1000 overnight on drugs that could save lives and STILL to this day want the general public to believe that radiation therapy and chemo (conceived in the 80’s) is/are the only cure for cancer in 2016…..?!?
An industry that thrives on the sick and the weak by prescribing drugs and more drugs to the benefit of whom?? Us?!?
You seriously believe that???????
To protect you children because they first and foremost look for the better interest of the general population????
Are you kidding me?!?!?!?
You are probably the most gullible person alive OR you have a mutual interest with big pharma to create such nonsense……i’m thnking the latter makes most sense……i trust big Pharma as much as i trust a starving tazmanian devil with rabies….
Oh dear! Why the over use of exclamation and question marks? You don’t know me and I don’t know you however here are my assumptions based on your reply:
1. You are am idiot who needs to learn that not everything is a conspiracy.
2. Your basic science is very misinformed, incorrect! Go back to school
We had one of the boys in our school contact polio. Thanks to
Immunization we are now free in Canada and across the world.
I know three older adults who now have post polio and have to
Use leg braces. Etc. Neighbor who had small pox with deep holes
In her face and body. Thanks to immunization I didn’t have to worry about small pox. Name them, measles, mumps, so many diseases we are now free of thanks to immunization.
your reply tells me that you are stupid as hell and need to pull your head out of your ass.
The article states quite clearly that only a non-vaccinated child can be infected and infectious. It is basically saying that if a vaccinated and a non-vaccinated child were in a room with an offending microoorganism, that only the non-vaccinated person would be at risk of getting the infection and therefore would put anyone else at risk.
This is wrong. What most people wrongly believe is that vaccination will cause their child to be impervious to infection (in effect giving them a shield of protection from the virus or bacteria itself). NO THEY ARE NOT. They will get ‘infected’ with the organism just like non-vaccinated person, but if, and I mean if and only if the vaccine has done its job and they are immune, they will get INFECTED with the microorganism but they will NOT GET THE CLINICAL INFECTION. They STILL CARRY the organism. The type of vaccine they get determines whether subject child sheds live organisms or not. There are studies of certain vaccines that make the VACCINATED subject MORE and not less INFECTIOUS. What that means is that some subjects who are vaccinated, don’t get the clinical disease, but are carrying the infectious microorganism for longer (ie walking around and spreading the disease). So please, it’s important to do more research. And not just vilify people who have different beliefs to you. And especially if you believe the last point about infecting young children. It is possible that a non-vaccinated subject is less infectious than a vaccinated one in certain circumstances. It’s not all black and white. It’s not all right and wrong.
And I really don’t think it’s fair or nice to be calling anyone names. It’s as dangerous to be completely for vaccination as it is to be fully against it.
Please tell me that you have sworn off all medications, because “big pharma” makes them all. And if you haven’t done that, go ahead and tell the next doctor that you see that he or she is a shill for “big pharma” if they ever prescribe vaccines. Do this before you bother to say why you’ve come to see a doctor so that your hypocrisy will be clearly described and not hidden. As a doctor who has never received a check or vacation or anything else of value from a pharmaceutical company, I can tell you that most of us will still treat you, but it’s always nice to know whether we are trusted or not, so we won’t bother recommending stupid chemicals that aren’t natural. Got cancer? That’s natural too. Let me get you a nice cup of tea and we will talk about how that’s going…
Actually, I have sworn off doctors for the very reasons you listed. We use homeopathics in our house and no one in my family has had to go to the doctor for anything except stitches in the last 2 years. We are a happy, healthy, RAW-food-eating, homeschooling family. My son almost died from encephalitis after a routine MMR vaccination at 16 months. The brain damage he suffered has been somewhat reversed by radically clean eating, zero additional vaccines, homeopathic and eastern medicine, R.E.T., and one-on-one therapy/tutoring as I have homeschooled him. He is now a very high-functioning 13 year old on the spectrum. A little awkward at times, socially. It took him longer to learn to read and write. But he is a mathematical genius. And has the sweetest, softest, kindest heart I have ever seen in a boy. His younger sister has NEVER had a vaccine, and has had 1 ear infection in the last 12 years. 1. She hasn’t been to a doctor’s office in 4 years. They have zero food allergies. SO, Mr. almighty doctor, there is no hypocrisy here. And if by chance cancer does happen to show it’s face in our family, you can bet we will NEVER be going to see a doctor like you, who is arrogant enough to think that there is nothing new under the sun to learn since you got your license. That your knowledge of medicine is superior to all other doctors out there who are actually open to furthering their knowledge by continued learning and studying, staying abreast of new discoveries, etc. You better pray your patients don’t somehow get to read these comments you have made and see firsthand that their doctor is such an arrogant piece of work. I and my family will be happily living our vaccine free life, thank you very much. My son has just as much worth as anybody else’s and saying that I should endanger his life for the “safety” of somebody else’s (which remains to be seen, btw) is as ludicrous as me demanding that a stranger throw their own child in front of a dump truck in order to keep the truck from hitting my child.
I’m sorry that your son had an adverse reaction to an immunization, but children that go to school need protection from illness. Most children go to public parks, play on sports teams, swim in public pools and may ride metro or a bus. Our world is filled with toxics and communicatable diseases.
My doctors are continuing to update their training and knowledge. I can’t imagining going to a doctor who finished his degree and stopped learning. In fact I can’t imagine anyone who stops learning.
You may have found a solution for your children by isolating them from potential health hazards, but someday they will need to get a job and be in contact with others on a regular basis. I hope their immune system is strong enough to protect them and that they never want to travel abroad.
I understand you were frightened when your son’s life was at risk, but there are excellent medical physicians and science has cured many diseases that we no longer need to worry about.
Look at both sides of this controversy with an intelligent and open mind. We all worry as we decide what’s best for ourselves and our family. Your decision has worked for your family so far. Future situations are coming along with future decisions. Make those decisions with new information that is available everyday.
I agree!
Can you please tell me dr. How many doctors as you (not receiving checks, vacations and perks) in % are out there? This is not sarcastic. The thing is, Pharma has led us to distrust them. I was about to vaccinate my kids against the flu in 2009 and I got notice that the vaccines in question had squalene as an ingredient. The fact is squalene is a substance banned in canada. So I decided to ask the Pharma. I just got a response from pr department saying something fuzzy about it. Not accepting, not denying. So the thing is, without being against vaccines, I do see the point of antivaccine people…
AMEN FELLOW CANADIAN. WHY ARE PEOPLE SO GULLIBLE? SORRY, THEY ARE SHEEPLE…..
If you can show me 3 articles that prove that vaccinations are bad than I will show you what about the “studies” you looked at are missing (fake data, opinions stated as facts, etc.)
People who don’t vaccinate their kids are selfish and stupid. It is a form of child abuse. I remember kids with polio and measles that were crippled for life or went blind. We had these dieses eradicated but because of stupid and selfish people they are on the rise again…. come on and be responsible parents ….. May God help us all …..
You should ready “Vaccinations: A Thoughtful Parent’s Guide” by Aviva Jill Romm, who by the way is a doctor. It’s more than an article, it’s a very throughout book on all aspects of vaccinations and the diseases they seek to protect from. This is not a black and white issue. I agree parents who don’t vaccinate without being fully informed aren’t making wise parenting decisions; but there is more to it than you are making out. So now you’re the one who sounds uninformed.
What a shaming, one-sided, and ignorant article. Not everyone who is against vaccines is a poorly educated moron. I have advanced degrees, have read more than one article, and don’t base my opinions on memes, Faceboom trends, or what the FDA swears (because, as we well know, they also approve aspartame and fluoride). I firmly believe that I cannot trust these vaccinations. Don’t get me wrong- vaccines are a great idea… just not in their current form. Stop assiming because someone comes to a different educated conclusion that goes against main stream “wisdom” that they are morons or irresponsible. If you can do that, I will try to stop thinking that about people who just naturally believe everything the government and pharma tell them. Okay?
Please show me a single study where aspartame has negatively affected humans.
You can say you’re not ignorant, but you are – it’s that simple.
So, you are a whack job.
That can happen.
Probably not even your fault.
What meds are prescribed for you?
Perhaps you should start taking them.
Degrees in basket weaving and coloring don’t qualify you in immunology.
these kinds of senseless comments piss me off. if you have nothing intelligent to say, do not say anything.
Thoroughly reasonable article.
I am glad to see one particular point put strongly: Some people are immunocompromised or otherwise vulnerable (eg. cancer treatments etc). They may have been vaccinated but they are not protected. If the rest of us are vaccinated their risk of disease is very low because there will be few people able to spread the disease. It is a civic duty, a social benefit for us all, to vaccinate except when there are sound medical grounds that put you in a very small minority. If you are in that minority, the rest of us should be looking out for you by being vaccinated. Don’t be selfish. Get your kid vaccinated. Stop free-loading on the rest of us who did vaccinate our kids.
